we have a argo big foot which acts the same way.
aparently this problem is not unheard of and we
are told that the problem is more than likely a
fuel pump problem. In our case the vacume pump was
not strong enough to lift the fuel when argo was
pointing uphill.We installed a 2p.s.i. electric
pump and problem solved.

I have a silver anniversary argo 6x6 and had problems with the engine stopping when under heavy load in sand or climbing steep hills, after replacing fuel pump two times I have gone to an electric pump. Be careful my electric pump will pump fuel at 5 psi and cause carb. to flood, to stop this you must fit a fuel regulator and set fuel pressure under 4 psi, as a safety measure I have run a fuel hose from the carb. overflow back to the fuel tank this stops any fuel from leaking on to the engine.

Very good point Mark.I have heard of a story where
an older Argo was burnt to the ground when a to high of a pressure pump was used and literly flooded the engine with fuel. The mechanic I know suggestes a max. of 2p.s.i. BE CAREFULL.
