Hello, On my Max II I have removed the springs which hold the levers forward. IMHO it makes it much easier to drive. Last weekend I has dragging a drag covering grass seed on my property. After a while I got tired of gripping the throttle so I just tied it open. When I wanted to stop I just pulled the sticks back. When going forward I would just ease the sticks forward. Seemed OK. Is it?

Bill, I don't think you will hurt the tranny any doing that (I slip steer a lot), but it could be a little hard on your engine running full throttle with no load when you have the levers in tranny neutral. Be sure that you have your levers all the way forward when you are going or it will appear that you don't have full power.
