I have a 2002 Argo 6x6 that has a 23 HP B&S Vanguard in it. The engine has about 60 hrs on it.
The carb developed a sticky float needle at 50 hrs, which was fixed by Briggs dealer under warranty.
The problem I have is it runs rich and the cause of the problem probably has to do with the altitude I ride at. I ride at 6500- 10,000 feet above sea level.
I have a high altitude jet in the carb, but it still runs rich. I get puffs of black smoke and rich smelling exhaut fumes, esp. when under load while turning.
The only adjustment that I know that I can make are the two idle (rich/lean) levers underneath the air cleaner assembly.
Is there anything that I can do to lean things out?
Would a hotter plug help burn things better?
Would a K&N air filter help it get more air and lean things out?
I've had another Argo and Max with 16 HP Vanguards and had very little problems. They would run a little rich at high altitude, but the 23 HP seems a bit more fickle. It does give me good power esp. with tracks on. Thanks! Argomike

Hey Mike put a dial a jet on it we just put one on our Conquest and runs and idles a lot better. The dial a jet will let you make all your cab adjuments with little effort. The main reason we put ours on is we live in Michigan and are going to Colorado Elk hunting in the fall and did not want to guess with the jets.Hope this helps oh and I think it was about $65 for the Kaw motor single carb.

Here is the website address to look at.
www.thunderproducts.com. They make them for pretty much anything. They will also walk you through the installation if you have problems.
