I have a 2001 Argo Response with standard Argo tracks that cost $2000.00. My wife just got a Vangard 2 and we desided to go with the Tru tracks because the Argo tracks are so expensive. We received the tracks about 1 week ago and there was not enough links to put them on. We contacted the company and should be receiving the extra links soon. So far the Tru tracks are alot less expensive, they are much lighter and they are about an inch less in width than the standard Argo tracks. We just got a 3 foot snow storm (in Mt Shasta, CA), with more on they way. We will let you know how they compare.
PS My buddy and I made the cover of the 2004 Argo calendar, I am the bald guy.

kickin man, so then your ARGO dealer is points west to, I just my calendar to, great picture. I am here in grass valley and only had a 1/2 inch this winter sofar :( hopefully soon though I want to plow through some snow! well hey lets hope for more snow here in cali, let me know if your ever here in my area with your argos, Cause I know a great river bottom to ride in lots of gravel and hills,

onecoot, Thats pretty cool that you have an ARGO and your wife also has one. I wish we had 2. However, we already have trouble keeping the one up and runing. Massive bill comming up for us soon as 6 out of 8 bearings have to be replaced, all chains, left brakes are pretty much shot and thats a result of loose chains which cause constant steering correction.

Damen, whats going on down in Cali these days (as far as weather goes) you been hit with the snow yet? We have NOTHING!!! for Toronto this time of year, its about 15-20 degrees celcius too warm. It was 15 celcius there today but down here in Florida it was over 25 celcius- thats like high 80's I think- Im burnt! Also, hows the ss working these days? Last I heard you were replacing the engine and if I remember correctly, something with your clutch.

no snow yet, well if you count one or two inches snow well then we have had some, yeah this seems to be a strangley warm winter everwhere, my ss is doing ok I have not had time to put in the new snowmobile engine, the poor old oh160 in it is just about to blow up it activly makes a loud clanking noise when it is reved up so it is about to trow a rod oh well it's a peice of cripe anyhow.

So what bearings needed to be replaced Most are really easy to get at yourself, just a word of caution if you ever do it your self, see what side of the frame the bearings are mounted on,When I built my argo I installed all my bearings on the wrong side I had to stop and take all the bearings off and reinstall the right I noticed the body would not fit around the frame oh well live and learn :)

Well my question is still are the argo tracks worth the difference in money?

Argomag, can you do some of that work on your Argo yourself? You can save a ton of labor charges.

Argohunter, I wish I could but I don't know enough about that stuff to do anything with it. I could do the chains but thats still too much work for me to do. I'd rather it got done by someone who knows what they are doing and it will get done right.

aww.. trust me man its hard to screw up an argos drive system and plus it only takes a few tools to work on one (heck you could get by with a cheapo homedepot tool set+ a 4 pound brass sledgehammer) I am lucky to have pretty much any machanics tools on hand so it is very easy for me. I am as you know preparing to do the third engine on my argo and even to put an engine in an argo it only takes 1 rachet and socket set +2 0r 3 extensions,a set of prybars(to manhandle powerpack into place if you take it out to) a couple of wrenches 13mm,14mm,15mm,17mm, and some screwdrivers) thats all, and well maybe a drill and bits if you have to "adjust" the motormount welded into the argo.

I am just happy that I finally am going to pickup my new used engine (finally going to have a non rainy saterday) I am going to use the rest of the snowmobile the new engine came from to start making a mini weasel its going to be set up kind of like a jigger two engines. I can possible talk my dad's friend out of one more of the liquifires (he has 4 of them)then i'd have everything else I need drive wise.

Damen, One question- Why so many engines? Just not enough power for you yet? What was the origional engine- was that the one that went completely wrong when you first got it?

nope never enough power!, the original was a 40hp ccw 2 cylinder 2 stroke, yep the ccw was the one that The clutch went BOOOM in i still have the clutch to, but engine wise the ccw runs fine but I wanted a liquid cooled engine, that way I can put a heater in it in the winter

the new one is somewhere between 40-50hp (don't know off the top of my head)(but it is going to increse over time its getting the "racing treatment")its 2 cylinder, 2 stroke Oil injection, with one MAJOR improvement its liquid cooled plus it has a john deere factory racing clutch on it.
