Hi folks, been working 6 days a week for way too long, just got my 2 week vacation.
I need a new muffler for my PowerTrac, always very noisy it blew the backend off the muffler yesterday and was like to leave us all deaf by the time we got home! I was a little surprised to note how much power it LOST with this. It's a 4 cycle, a Kohler Comand 26 hp. twin. With the throttle wide open it barely crept up even moderate slopes.
Does anybody know who would make a quieter muffler for the 26 horse V-Twin Kohler horizontal? It needs to extend about 5 " from the engine before the muffler or crossover. I've called the small engine shops around here trying to find someone to make a custom exhaust, no one does. Any help will be appreciatede!

I am also looking to put a quieter exhaust on my 2000 Argo Response. Has anyone found such an animal? Or has anyone got a good way of fabricating one?

Same here for a 16HP 1 cylinder Kohler in my Hustler. Can't believe there isn't someone who hasn't fabed something or found a muffler to fab to a 6x6 to make it quieter.

I have an 8x8 ARGO magnum. don't know exact year- very very loud when running- when running full throttle, full power, the noise now starts to give me slight headaches. Can the engine compartment be insulated with that sound proofing stuff to shut it up a bit?

im sure you could take a muffler from a 4 cyl mustang 87-93 and get a muffler shop to route the exhaust to the muffler inlet.

Hey guys there is a company out there that manufacturere a product called the "Stealth Exhaust System". The product was primarily made for the 4x4 quads, to make them much quieter. Off hand I do not remember the name of the company that makes and sells them, however, you could do a search on the internet using the key words stealth exhaust, and you may locate it on your own. If I ever do remember the name of that company and their web site, I will post it for you.

The company that manufactures and sells the "Stealth Exhaust System" is called Kolpin. Kolpin makes a lot of ATV related products for the outdoorsman. They claim the Stealth Exhaust System will reduce the noise level of an ATV engine exhaust by about 50%.

There web site address is http://www.kolpin.com

Shane I do not know if installing a Stealth Exhaust System affects the engine power and performance. I have never installed or tried this thing on a machine. As a general rule any time you gut or add more back pressure to an exhaust system it will usually affect the engine performance one way or another. The same thing applies to gutting or adding to the air box on a carburator, or adding other types of performance parts on the engine, it generally does effect the engine performance. The worst case is that you would loose a small amount of engine horse power at top end, however, the noise level woud be dramatically reduced. More than likely you would need to retune the carburator for the new exhaust set up.

If a person were to buy and install the Stealth Exhaust System, then I would also suggest buying and installing the Thunder Products Dial-A-Jet device and their micro adjustable air breather kits. The Thunder Products kits would allow you fine tune the new exhaust set up much better.
