I have a 1960's Hustler that I just purchased. Excellent condition. It has the CCW 340 twin 2 stroker. I need to know what ratio to burn in it. I talked to a guy that said to "just follow the directions on the bottle of 2 stroke oil". My question is what ratio, not how do I mix it. Any 2 stroke oil bottle I pick up has at least 6 different ratios on it. Which one do I need for this old motor. I don't want to burn it up and I don't want to fog the countryside for mosquitos either. Anyone have knowledge in this area? |

Jerry: Some will disagree but I would start out with about 32:1. I run 50:1 in my Attex with no problems at all. That is probably what you will end up with, but it is best to start out on the rich side. By the way, my Attex says 24:1 on the data plate but you have to remember, that was in the 70's with 70's oils. The oils of today are way better at keeping parts from sticking together. Have lots of fun in your Hustler, sounds like you bought a great machine!!! |

WELL THERES MANY WHO THINK DIFERENTLY BUT I HAVE HAD GOOD LUCK WITH 50/1 = 6 GAL/1 PINT IN MY VAIRIOUS 2 STROKE TWINNS CHOUSE A GOOD QUALITY OIL AND YOU CANT GO WRONG, I DO SOMETIMES UP THE MIX IN HOT WETHER TO APROX 45/1 = 5 GAL/1 PINT
ALTHOUGH HIGH TEST IS GREAT FOR POWER IT IS BAD FOR 2 STROKES CAUS MOST HIGH TEST THEAS DAYS HAVE TOO MUCH DETERGENT IN THEM WICH IS VERY BAD FOR 2 STROKES, NOW AIRCRAFT AND AUTO LOW LEAD HIGH OCTAIN FULE IS GOOD FOR THEM, IF COST IS NO PROBLEM AND YOU CAN FIND SOME,
IM USEING THE MIDIUM GRADE PUMP GAS, |

I went with Amsoil 100:1 (designed for this mix) for awhile but recently went up to approx. 40:1 just to play it safe. I also switched from Amsoil to whatever I find on the shelf. The Amsoil is expensive and not always available. |

Thanks Bob. I can't find a data plate on this one. I'll start with 32:1 and see just how much she smokes. Cut back a little untill it's faint and slightly visible with the sun behind it. |
