hey, find a "Ted Williams" outboard...air cooled and easily shifted to neutral (with a simple shifting cable) for going over burms and reed beds. i have used mine several times since getting it this summer. my other amphicat has a colaspable transom to raise the outboard. must be air cooled or ya got to shut it off.
i used a trolling motor on my 6x6 maxiv last year and noticed that having the trolling motor mounted up front hindered the performance somewhat. the blade pushes the water aginst the front of the 6x6 and kills some of the thrust but enabled me to turn very quickly. i used the wheels and the trolling motor for forward thrust and used the trolling motor only to turn. i feel like a rear mounted prop would work much better for propultion but would not turn as quick.
