Cannot find any makers tag, model name or any other information.

Body is in two halves, driver sits atop the front wheels, conventional steering wheel.

Chassis is articulated, steering by twisting the chassis halves.

Single cylinder air cooled engine, electric start, centrifical clutch, forward and reverse gears, possbly a low range as well.

Body is very simple, open drivers pod and a pick up bed rear.

Seems familiar, thought it might be a "Gamma Goat", but now know it is not a Goat.

Surely someone here recognizes this?

Because it is fiberglass, it's not a Coot. Coot bodies were all metal.
Could be an AMF suretrek but they were orange in color.

OOPS my bad just realized it only has 4 wheels. AMF Suretrek was an 8 wheeler. Would love to see a photo.

Been poking about for a couple of days now.

If it's a Coot there do not seem to be any pics of this model.

I now think it is either a PUG or a Pac Trac.
Pics of those vehicles I found here most closely resemble it.

As near as I can decipher the articles scanned into this site the Pac Trac used a 4 cyl. engine, and the PUG does not float.

This has a 1 cyl. engine, and the guy I got it from relates how he and his brother often used it as a diving platform in the middle of a nearby lake when it was newer.

His family apparently bought it new and used it as a utility vehicle on their ranch, you would think they would know who made it!

Just my luck to end up with an odd-ball, really hoped it was a Coot as they seem to have better hobbyist support.

Now if I can just find a starter, reinstall the flywheel, free up some stuck linkage.....

Pics sent today.

Not a 6x6 or 8x8, but a truly funky ride in any case.

Seeing it again after looking at the old articles it is clearly a "Pug".

I think it will work much better in the rough terrain and snow we have here in Nevada than my 6x6's, guess I will settle the argument on weather or not it floats once it is running.

Lets see now, this gives me a Pug, Chapparel & Hustler ATV's.
Skiroule & Alpine snowmobiles.
Rokon RT-340 dualsport motorcycle.
Two 88" Land-Rovers and four Austin Champ road legal 4x4's!

I almost have enough pre-Nader, pre-Sierra Club jerk vehicle projects to last the rest of my life. ;-)

Hmm, maybe I will part with the Chapparel and Skiroule.

HI JUST FOUND A YELLOW ARTICULATED PUG PERSONEL CARRIER AT AN AUCTION. NOT SURE IF IT RUNS YET. DO YOU GUYS KNOW WHERE TO GET ANY INFO ON IT OR WHERE TO BUY PARTS? IT LOOKS VERY COMPLETE AND ORIGINAL. FIBERGLASS IS IN REAL GOOD SHAPE. THANKS!!

Bob Keith in Bruce Wisconsin deals in the vintage Pugs. He has parts and manuals. His phone # 715-868-4945.
I just bought one 2 weeks ago. It runs pretty good, but needs a few odds and ends done to it to make it right.
I would love to see pictures of it. Where are you located? If you need any help, send me a message or post it here.

The serial number for the Pug is on the top of the right side frame rail just towards the rear of the engine and front section. It should start with "ATV######" The last 3 indicate engine size. Mine is 140 which is the Briggs and Stratton 14 HP. Also according to Bob keith it was made between 1970 and 1972.

Well, I have been playing with my new old Pug for a month or so. It has a 2 speed + reverse transmission that is driven by a Salsbury torque converter. Low gear doesn't work, it just makes some awful noises when you try to move. High gear works fine and it has enough power to climb anything. The tires spin before the engine bogs down. It is a wonderful utility vehicle because it has a home made 4'x4' bed on the back. The kids like to go on "hay rides" around the house. It is really fun to drive because of the articulated steering. It doesn't turn as sharp as you would think. It takes a bunch of turns lock to lock so it is not very good in the woods.
I have the repair manual for it and it looks like a million gears in the transmission. I will wait and see if I am brave enough to open it up to fix the low gear that I don't need.

liflod I had to replace a gear in mine a few years ago it seams a tooth was broke off and I didnt know it till I was useng it on a real cold day. Well the cold oil piked the peice up and made lots of little peices, So you might want to check it out it can get pretty exspensive.

I have some old magazines I am sifting through, and found some *Pug Articals, so far. But will be going through more This week end. Hope I can help out a few of you.
I had just picked up a Old Pug as well, in real good shape. It has the Metal Dump Box and has a 16hp Briggs. ATV 2240-160 on frame.
Have located most of the Stickers and or tags with info. on it. And have just begun to search the interenet for more info. on it. *not sure the year yet. Can send pics to anyone of interest who wants to see it. If anyone has found any good sites........*Please let me know.Thanks for the space and will be Talkin. ;-)

I just bought what I believe is a pug utility vehicle. Has a metal front end, 18 hp, bns engine, articulating steering, 4x4, hyd-dump bed, centrifical clutch belt drive, HAXCO axles (made by Holtan Axle and Transmission company), 2 forward speeds, 1 reverse. I was wondering where to find parts for the axles? I have model and serial numbers for the axles. There is no model or serial number, tag or stamp on the machine though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks--Erik.

In the process of getting a new camera. This PUG is awsome. I have driven alot of different utility vehicles over the years,but never nothing like this.I can fix everything else on it except the axels. I hope to find someone that knows where to find parts & a mannual for them.

Erik Welcome to the world of Pugs. In a previous post dated Feb 23/05 Lance mentions Bob Keith and he is the go to person. Bob lives in Bruce Wis. and owns the rights to the pugs. Bob is retired but he has a lot of Pug parts. I bought a Twister from him this summer which has the same drivetrain as the Pug. I believe Bob could help you with the manuals for the pug but I don,t know about HAXCO. I have two Pugs also. One is the people mover and the other has the Steel bed with stake sides. I'm looking for the one with the gondola box. If interested there is a site for the twistergardentractors in the Yahoo group. Some of these guys on Pugs also Good luck Emil
