I was wondering if anyone knows of a good travel cover to put on an 8x8 while trailering. In winter it's necessary as the machine gets covered with sand and salt and last time was a mess when I got home. Using plastic tarps is an option but I have found them to pretty much disintegrate if they flap the least bit. I believe that I found a link to a manufacturer who makes them out of the same material that is used on tractor trailers, but for the life of me I can't find that link again. I do have links to Nylon ones but not sure how they would hold up to wind while traveling on a highway. Any information you have would be helpful.

Tim, you are not alone with this problem. With my new tracks on ,I am too wide for my covered trailer. I had to use the flat bed car trailer to go to my friends house in Brockville ont. I wrapped the machine up real well in a canvas tarpaulin. It was minus 25 celsius (below zero F. The tarp tore out at the back and the side window was so brittle in the cold that one of them broke where they were hitting a lump on the pipe frame. I have a ROPS and I want to tow with the roof up if I can but I don't know how to cover it. Anybody got any ideas ? Two Avengers

Tim, Have you looked at Western Tarpaulin & Co. on Belfield Rd. in Toronto. sales@westerntarp.com
I am looking under Truck and trailer tarps and custom tarps. Guess I need a trip to the big smoke.

I see two options, a coated, rubberized type material, or a breathable fabric. I had a custom boat cover made from Sunbrella acrylic fabric, commonly used for awnings on buildings. It is breathable, so if you have any moisture in the argo it can evaporate through the cover. Downside is with age, it needs to be sprayed with Scotchguard to stay water repellent. Upside is, a custom, tight fitting cover will tow all day long @ 70 mph with no tattering.

A coated or rubberized non breathable fabric will work well, just be sure the vehicle is dry inside before covering it up long term.

A solid/coated material might be better at keeping salt out.

Hey Philip, ironically I am only minutes from Brockville north. I bought a 6x10 galvanized trailer and it fits nicely with the tracks on. I got it from http://www.trailerworld.ca/. Great quality trailer for the money, I recommend them. Although it's a pain to put on in extreme cold weather, I put my canopy down when I trailer it so it doesn't blow away, as well as tie down the windsheild. Previous owner lost more than one windsheild apparently. That is why I was looking for the cover and it would likely only be used for trailering in winter.
Roger, I do see your point about the solid or rubberized and I think that's the best bet for my application at this point. I will keep looking for the website I found earlier. I believe it was an Argo dealer in the US somewhere had them made out of this rubberized fabric and were about 350 bucks if I remember correctly. I didn't bookmark it. Duh!

I have firm prices on nice custom covers, 6x6 225$
and 255$ for the bigger 8x8 ones, both out of heavy material, with strong draw cables (stainless) Plus they will charge shipping to you.

If anyone want one, let me know and I will send you their number so you can order one

Mine will be ready on Wed. Much cheaper than the ones on ebay, nice. They want to know now so they can build them all at once, or the price will be higher

I got my cover from Adair and I am definately impressed with it. Once it was on the machine it didn't so much as flap and it kept everything clean while on the trailer. The only problem was that the US exchange killed me, even after negotiation with Adair. They designed this cover because of a need they had for delivering new units in clean condition. They have made subtle changes the more they used it. That, and the reason that I didn't see anything else other than nylon covers which I know would not hold up long. I was quoted lifetime guarantee on this product and from what I see the only thing that would likely ever need replacing are the tie downs.
Jeff are the prices you were quoted for having these made in Canadian dollars, or are you located in the US?

The covers are only available in back. He said they would check on price for a camo but it was higher, perhaps just a dark green, how about one of those?
