I have an 1985 Argo Conquest with everything except the trackes and the tent. I would like to know what tires will fit snugly on it.

1. Could you give me a list of all of the differnt types that will fit.

2. Could you giive me the web site (if there is one).

3. Tell me a bit about the differnces.

I have the Old Runamucks on it since 1985 (their bold almost)

Any help would be greatly apreacheated onm this subject Thankyou

Hi Scott,

Although I don't have a list of all the different tires that will fit your Argo, I can suggest a set of Goodyear Rawhide III's. The 25 inchers come stock on the Bigfoot model and speaking from experience with owning one, they are really mean and aggressive, not to mention durable (You won't believe what i run over ;-)). You won't be able to fit 25's onto your 8x8, but the 22's will fit, just make sure before you make any decision with any tire. You will also need a fair bit of power to move them. They never made an '85 conquest. They came out in 1993... so I am assuming you have an Argo Magnum or 8 I/C? Lemme know. Hope that helped.

they shows altmost "every flavor" on atv tires..i install on my max ll the ipt blackwater 22" x 12.50"x ....this is a 4 ply rating very hard compound tire that loves to be punished on rocky terrain and on muddy too!!!....hope that you find a good choice so you can bounce back on new rubber!!

Scott,

As long as you have an argo that DOES NOT use a Tecumseh engine then you are good to go. I had one, they are utter junk (the engine, not the argo), as anyone.

You should have enough power in that Kohler to run the Rawhide 22's. Be careful if you decide to go for regular ATV tires as you can kill yourself. ATV tires weren't designed for skid steer operation and dig into the terrain. If you take a corner fast, odds are you will flip. The Goodyear Rawhides and Runamucks are skid steer tires, and all I can recommend. Keep in mind I am no expert, just experienced.

You might try to get them direct from ODG (may be expensive), a local dealer or try direct from Goodyear.

PS You may need adaptors to fit the Rawhides onto your axels because I think they have larger lugs than the Runamucks. In any case, good luck and check with a dealer to be 100% sure.

Scott, yes or no dependinding upon which argo you have. If you have a bigfoot then yes. The 25" vamps will work great. For any other model then no. I have a conquest and wanted vampires for it but had to settle for the regular superswamper tires which I highly recommend. I do have vampires on my polaris quad. All I can say is WOW! what a set of tires. I think the regular superswampers give better water propulsion than the vamps would. Also the vamps are a VERY stiff sidewall tire (they will run flat with holes cut in the tire carcass). The ride would be bone jarring rough in an argo. It's bad enough with the swampers. By the way, no they aren't skid steer tires. The lateral bite is very agressive and the side wall too stiff to be considered a skid steer tire.

Need tire info. I have an argo 8 I/C model, with stock 20 11.00 x 8 runamucks. I tried to get a replacements but the dealer says they don't have this tire size anymore. Does anyone know for sure if a 22 11.00 x 8 will work, there does not seem to be a lot of room between the tires. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Will the IPT BLACKWATER 22X12.5-8 tires fit on a 2001 ARGO CONQUEST with the factory rims? My dealer says they will not but I think I have read on this page that they will. Are they good?

I did not proof read the last post before sending it off. I was going through the photo Gallery and seen ITP Blackwater tires on an Argo. The photo was from J Martin, has any one tried these tires or herd of how they perform on an Argo.

Isaac Eiseman post 45-30-01 if you are monitoring the board. I am interested in knowing how the 12.5 wide tires performed on the Max II? Was there a clearance problem between the sidewall and the tub? Did you have problems with debris packing up bewteen the tire and tub? 12.5 wide sounds great and I think the floatation would be great, just have these concerns.

jsaylors post 5-2-01 if you are monitoring the board. How did the Super Swampers perform in mud, snow, water? Would you recommend and why?

Mr. Jerry, here's a report on the ITP Mud Lite. Floats good (Really Lite weight). Mounted according to direction of arrow on tire. I have 7 lbs according to recommendations. seems to steer good, although been raining for a couple of days and everything is muddy. Brought gps in bayou, depends on how fast the current is moving on how fast you go. DOES NOT MOVE FORWARD OR REVERSE JUST SPENDS. Seems to work good in the mud though.

To get any water speed out of them you will have to reverse the direction of the tread just swap one side to the other side.

I'd try Howards advice and switch the tires around to run against the arrow. I'd also drop the pressure down to 2.5 to 3.5 psi to get better traction, absorb bumps and treat your machine and spine a little nicer. If you switch the tires let us know if the machine will swim.

chuck, tires fit good no rubbing 2 1/4 between tires, 2 1/2 from top, and 3 inches from machine side. Can't see why the 23 inch tires wouldn't work?

23"s would work. Just under 24" will work. Question is, what tire and wheel will fill the bill. Anything over 22" in an 8" wheel is uncommon.

Mr. Smith why is that? It seems that the higher you are off the ground the more mud you will be able to go in. Why hasn't I read anywhere that 23"s tires would fit?

OMG, Unbelievable. Tested my argo in the swamp, I have tried 4 wheelers 4 wheel drive tractors etc. where i went with this machine i though i would not even get close. My middle son was going to buy the biggest atv they make to try to get to his deer stand now he is going to get an aatv. My youngest son called it the beast. After reading forums that say's the max is better I would love to see that machine in action. Once again where i went was amazing, to think that for years i was walking which took about 1.5 hrs, I rode in about 11 min. AATV ROCK!!!!!!!!

Mr. Cox you are right, hooked and a beleiver. Also tried sending pictures of the mud lite tires, i was advised to much information. Just put some tracks from a 6 wheeler on the front three tires, waiting to buy the rest for the back tire. Also did registered, (not the good with puters) Louisiana swamps. bubba :o)

Unregistered Guest, Please remember that when you read SO MUCH more that Maxes are better in this fourm that a lot of it is coming from Max dealers. Both have their positives and their negitives, each person to their own. I own a Argo Conquest 8x8, I have a friend that has a Max and from driving the Max I went with the Argo.

Mr. Brian, sorry for the post you are right. What i meant was after reading, Max's are lighter (so i read), more balance (moter in back) and have 25" tires. I would love to see one go where my argo went just to see the difference. I live in South Louisiana, where you don't see a lot of these machines. i really thought this would NOT WORK where i live. Was i wrong, I have brought everyone that comes visit me for a ride and everyone can't beleive where this thing got. Still amazed myself. bubba

maybe you two can get together some time and you can show him where you went as he dose it with his maxIV, prehaps on the way out you 2 can switch vehicles or somptin like that,

I heard the Max 4 is a little tippier due to the motor moun ted high in the rear, anyone comment on if this is so? I like both Machines. I think we might buy one each here a Max 4 and an 8x8 for work.

18 hp kohler magnum, looked for the tag on the firewall it's gone, going to get the rest for the back tire too. Trying to figure out how many more i need. Took oldest son ride today, he said I should have bought one years ago. dddaaaaa. If i would have known, just was scared to try. Lot of money if it didn't work.

It has an 18 hp kolher magnum, 320 hrs on machine. other than that, i'm new to these machines and don't know nothing. looked for the tag on the fire wall but is gone even called a dealer to see if i was lookig in the right place, found the holes where the tag was.

jack just give tim a call and try out his bugy, i have some video that showes that although they are a little over boient and bob a lil like a cork you would have to work prity hard to take on any water by rocking them back and forth with all your body weight,
so it only takes a moment to get used too it.

When I had a full set of standard tracks on my response, it swam like a "sow on ice", in other words, tracks are usless in the water!!

If you fine the engine code on the engine it is a long number it might tell you the year of Mfg of the engine. On a Briggs the first 2 numbers are the year it was built. This will give you a best guess within a year. The number should be on a plate on the shroud around the cylinders talk to a Kohler engine guy and find out where the numbers are located

Thanks Bob, I didn't think of that. you are right, the code on my 25 h.p. Kohler indicates the year of manufacture. Bubba let us know what you find out. Have you tried going into the swamp with no tracks? W.Philip Cox

will look for the year of the engine, thanks. and no sir haven't tried going in swamp with no tracks, scared!!! It work so good with the tracks on, just ordered a sprocked for trans. Teeth was getting worn.
