I have been having problems with operating my 8x8 conquest Argo. I had problems turning and it was very unstable in the water. The problem was the factory Roll over protection bars. They are way to heavy and affected the operation of the vehicle. I now can say that the Argo is a pleasure to operate. I have placed tubes in all tires and no longer face any flats. Thanks to those who have made suggestions on this site as they were a great help. |

Yes, I took them off and it made a world of difference. The unit was owned by a oil company before I purchased it and would have been required by OH&S laws to have them in place. I'd bet they weigh close to 200 lbs. |

Alf, were the bars stock argo I guess the argo was pigish at 200 all up high |

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you Redwolf. Yes, the ROP was factory made form Argo. It is made of 1 1/2" square tubing. Very strong and very heavy. I don,t think the extra weight was hard on the conquest 8x8 but the distribution of the weight worked against the skid steering ability. Once the ROP was of the majority of the weight became more centralized, allowing for improved turning and steering. The ride has improve and it functions totally different n the water now. |

Did not know the Argo system weighs so much, I guess it does handle better with it removed

Peppi. I have not seen an Argo Rop (roll cage) that was made from Square steel tube. Any chance that you can post a picture of it? It is a lesser of two evils situation. Most Argo owners in Canada put the rops on to protect the convertable roof in the cold weather and take both of them off in the spring.W. Philip Cox |

Alf, try this website it's freeware, download Pixresizer 2.0.2, it's a great product for resizing pics. Use the 600x400 setting and you should have no more trouble posting.http://bluefive.pair.com |

Using the site Ray posted, Requirement of photos no larger that 500kb in file size. (this is really large) Physical size can be no larger than 900x900 pix. Up loading photos is easy, just have them on your computers desktop and hit UPLOAD ATTACHMENT button and hit BROWSE button, scrow until you find the photo you want posted.

Wow Alf you are right, that is a BIG ROPS. I can see where it would be a bit top heavy in the water. It looks as though there would be no problem putting the roof on under it though. Did you find a place to put the fire extinguisher? without the rops. I am required to carry a smaller one when in the water but I still haven't found a good permanent home for it. |
