I received this from Jon Schweitzer - Asst. Administrator Jackson County Forestry and Parks Department. It seems the Wisconsin DNR is revisiting the registration of ATVs. Please contact me if you have input, I plan on attending this meeting. Ken ------------------------------------------------ From: Randy Harden Sent: Tuesday, September 06, 2005 3:23 PM To: Robert B McConnell Subject: UTV pre-planning meeting September 6, 2005 Dear Powersports / Industry Professional and/or trail advocate: We are all aware of the toll that ignoring a situation can take on our Powersports community. The NOHVIS / WATVA group is organizing a “Brainstorming” meeting to decide whether to tackle the future classification and management of Side by Side Utility Vehicles, dirt bikes, ATV’s and other Off-Highway Vehicles head-on in the State of Wisconsin, and possibly developing a template for legislation in other states. With the help of influential leaders from the Manufacturers, DNR, Dealers, Legislators, the Media and the cooperation of grass roots organizations, we want to be proactive by having a “Pre-Planning” meeting to spend time becoming knowledgeable about the OHV situation, do an appraisal of the current state of Off-highway vehicles, and distinguish what is registered and what isn’t. Plus, look into the future of the next 3-5 years of growth and use patterns and how this will affect the existing ATV programs in the State of Wisconsin. And finally, decide on what potential actions need to be taken. We are offering an opportunity for you to participate in this program and process. This “Brainstorming” meeting to identify the many issues associated with the continued growth of the different types of OHV‘s is scheduled at the Best Western Midway, 2901 Martin Avenue in Wausau, Wisconsin at 1:00 PM, Friday, September 16th. If you have any questions at all about the meeting, feel free to contact me. Your relationship with the NOHVIS / WATVA group is important, and we trust that this meeting will only enhance the work we have already begun together. We hope that your calendar is clear and that you will be able to join us and share your thoughts. Please contact me by Monday, September 12th with your plans. If you cannot attend, please plan on sending a representative to give us your input or let us know if you want to be invited to future meetings if the results so dictate. We look forward to meeting with you and your associates.
