hi guys, now i was thinking of building something, using a front wheel drive car (auto) and using the brakes individually with separate master cylinders to skid steer. has this been done or tried? Nice to meet you all anyway. Steve

hi steve-can I assume that you are from australia? are you wanting to build something with more than 4 wheels or did you just lose the steering wheel? I don't see why dual brakes like on a farm tractor wouldn't work.do you want it to float?

yeah i was thinking 6 or 8 wheels, i work at a Honda motorcycle shop so I can get plenty of wheels! i thought perhaps a small car, front wheel drive set up might work OK, and yes I actually have an old tractor with left and right brakes. just wondered if it would be a nightmare to control? just the whole compact, engine, brakes, diff you'd get with a 1000cc or less car might be good. Floating would be good as I live near a river. New Zealand actually also.. but the mistake has been made before.

Stephen Do you know a guy named Pete Lanc by any chance? I have been emailing him for a few years now he lives in New Zealand also. He is building 6x6 & 8x8 AATV's trying to get a contract with the govt. He uses Subaru Powerplants or was I havent talked to him in about a year or so.

i was thinking of Subaru as well, the flat 4 would give a nice CofG with an option for the rear prop engaging a propeller at the back . or even the small 3 cyl justy version for the compact size and rear prop option. jst tried a quick google on pete lanc but nothing sorry, any idea on an approximate location.
