I have a six wheeler, we are thinking of rebuilding the body with metal, do you guys think it will float ok or will it be a brick and sink?

I haven't seen or hear of it yet, but I"m planning on doing the samething. I plan on using aluminum not blk. iron as to keep it as light as possible. Also, I plan on making it wider which should give me more surface area that in turn should give me more floation.

I think alot depends on the design and weight. Some of the older four wheeled amphibs used a steel tub. The Coot and Eagle were both steel as far as I know, and the Terra-jet had a fiberglass body over a steel tub. I'm not sure of the first two, but I know the Terra-jet sits mighty low in the water. 'Sounds like a fun project, though.
