Someone just send me these tracks that are for sale, I was told
this was a factory system for the MAX II. Does anyone
have any knowledge of it, is it as good as it looks? Jerry

Jerry, that is the track setup used in the 70's. It is very heavy with a pipe support in the front and on the rear of the machine. There is a boogie wheel type support front and rear with a bar along the outside to tension the track. Wheel slip is very prevalent and maintenance is excessive. There is very minimal stress on the axles as all stress is on the pipe supports.
The track was good (15" wide as present) and one piece, longer than current track. They could be retrofitted to modern design and would work fine. There are no tire guides. |

Jerry, Our richard has built a few machines
with that track system, as I have one! really
nice, smooth and fast, I suggest you get it if you can. Keep in mind there are no replacements for the track itself, however upon looking at it, I am sure one could connect a few old snowmobile tracks together and make it work well, I have never had any tire slippage problems with mine, however I do use it in deep snow in Colorado. That is a REAL track system, not just like todays silly over the tires tracks, machine will operate jut like a 50000$ snowcat. Sam Preston |
