I just got the new issue of ATV Magazine. I opened it up and saw the comparison of six 4- and 6-wheel vehicles. Finally, I thought, at least Max and Argo would get to compare with other vehicles like them. I read the list of vehicles included in the review. John Deere Trail Gator 6x4 Diesel, Trail Gator 4x2, E-Z GO Workhorse, Kawasaki Mule 2510, Polaris Ranger, Sportsman 6x6, and... and...??? NO MAX OR ARGO IN THE COMPARISON!! Once again we are left in the dark. Then I look at page 49 and see Recreative's ad for Max. Obviously ATV Magazine knew about these machines and just didn't care. Recreatives paid for that ad and the magazine chose to not give them any "free" advertisement in a review. I didn't even expect a fair review from a quad magazine. I just wanted to see a review.

I think we need to start sending pictures and articles to the magazines like the quad owners do. Every magazine has things like "reader's wheelers" and "over the bars". It would be a good idea to send in your hunting stories and a picture of your Argo 8x8 hauling in two big moose. Send them a picture of something that can't be done with a quad.
What do you guys think about this?

Brandon-
I remember reading a comment from V. Greg Hintze sometime ago on this board that's always stuck in the back of my mind, where he said that most mainstream riders (and their press) think of amphibs as the inbred cousins of quads that should never be let out of the basement. Funny way to put it, but pretty much right on the nose. I found an article on the MAX II in, I believe, Dirtwheels magazine two or three years ago and was shocked. Not only to actually find a modern publication that acknowledged us, but actually gave our "weird" machine a positive review. This is a rare exception unfortunately.

The current breed of AATVs like the newly re-vamped MAX IV 900-T and the huge Bigfoot 8x8 would more than outshine the "tradtional" market concept of what a 6x6 really is. I still think that most people who even DO know what we are have too much of a bad taste left over from the bad rep these vehicles got during the late 70's. People have simply written us off and closed the book. Too bad no one cares enough in the rags to really cover our buggies in the light they deserve. I wish there was something we could collectively do to wake people up to the awesome world of these extraordinary machines. If we could, I believe that AATVs would once again rule the day. I know for certain that our AATVs would kick the sh*t out of the other so-called 6x6 machines out there... hands down!!!

Brandon, about The ATV Comparison, "The Big Boys"[Deere/Textron E-Z Go/Kawasaki/Polaris] are in a "dog eat dog" battle for the Golf Course/Parks/School Utility Vehicle Market. In my opinion, there needs to be a 6x6/8x8/tracked Vehicle Publication, do you want The Editor Job?

Snowco, I had considered a similar publication however; I felt that such a pub. would be doomed to failure. Unfortunately "WE" are a small market and therefore a newsletter would be more appropriate.
Fortunately for us as internet users we have come accross the wonderful workings of Richard Clark to bring us together. If we need to be underground ATV people then the Internet is the prime location for us, and a monthly or bi monthly newsletter is not required. This site is our "Daily" newsletter.

I say someone should start a magazine on the 6x6 and 8x8's. I think that would be enough info for a magazine, and there is a bunch of Companies that would pay to advertise in the magazine. Maybe if there were a magazine out there, some of the aftermarket companies will start making aftermarket parts for the 6x6 & 8x8's. What do you guys think?

I just saw a comparison review of the Hydrotrax 6x6 as compared to the MaxII. You guys might want to check it out. It was published on the www.atvnews.com website under the following URL:
http://atvnews.rivals.com/default.asp?sid=1318&p=2&stid=7988254

It was a recent rewiew dated 17 Aug 00. Happy reading.

I would love to see an AATV Magazine on the shelf someday soon. It would give the advertisement needed to get the 6x6s back in the mainstream. 6x6s will rule again!

That review was in ATV Magazine sometime last year. I always enjoy seeing a 6x6 in a magazine, but that review was pathetic. It looks like they got two machines, which they have never driven before, and drove it 100 feet to a lake and swam across one time. They cried about the Max being unstable in water. How lame. It may not be a bass boat but it is great for being half boat and half real ATV. You would have to try to flip it over. Without more weight I cannot flip mine over even when I tried. I have drove it full throttle off a shore that was about 6" above the water. I got a little wet but there was no sign of it being unstable. Unlike the other ATVs that this magazine reviews, the Max really does GO ANYWHERE.

Since I now own a new 2002 MaxIV 25T,,and also, still own two 4-wheelers ( a 2-wheel drive Yamaha Big Bear,,and also, a 2-wheel drive Yamaha Kodiak)
I still like to read all the new 4-wheeler magazines to find out whats new.

I was recently at the Books-a-Million store,,and, as I was looking through the new issue of "Dirt Wheels" magazine,,I saw on page 12, a picture of the "new Max Buffalo dump truck" with a large heavy duty plastic dump bed, that is electrically controlled. This might be the right machine for a farmer with low and swampy pasture lands.

Actually the dump bed is metal and is line-x coated with stainless steel slam latches. I have a 2003 model and it is nice.

I will be using it much on my new property. It has the all weather safety pkg, htc, 26 inch super terra grip tires, hour meter, Warn winch & roller fairlead plate & 12 volt pp.

This is a nice machine that get lots of compliments.

( Max4me )

Sounds to me,,like you,re very proud of your new Max Buffalo dump truck. I have a 2002 Max IV 25 hp,,with all of the features you have on yours,,plus, lots of other custom features, that I had my friend make for me. Very soon,,I will have a suspended front seat. At the present time,,I have custom wrap around bumpers front and rear,,and also, winches front and rear, that are activated with switches on the dash. Also, front and rear spot lights,,activated from the dash as well. Over head dome lights,,for seeing inside my Max at night, also activated from the dash.

I have really begun to enjoy my Max IV more and more,,because its so easy to modify, and aslo, so much room, for extra modifications if you want them.

You rarely see 6x6 in magazines, as you know.
Top Gear on BBC America did a story on off road vehicles, which showed a Argo being driven, they somewhat seemed to like it, but they are just smart ass car guys, who seem to rip most anything

6x6 Friends

We are currently doing a redesign of ROUTE6x6, in which should flow and look better.
It is not posted on the web currently.

A new discussion board is coming too, in fact we are working on it now and will
post before entire site is changed. The new board will be added soon.

Also a proper GALLERY and CLASSIFIEDS will be added at same time, where
as the reader can add and edit their own items.

Please list me some features you would like to see in the new board. Will try to
use all suggestions as to what you like. Please your opinions are needed.
You are welcome to list them here or send them to our email address.

Thanks
Richard Clark
