I too am new to these types of vehicles. I would like to build a tracked vehicle but am not sure where to go to get tracks. Is there a source for these? Also, I looked at the Cushman Trackster vechicles. These seem to be the closest to what I am looking for. We are looking to build/buy a predominantly oversnow vehicle for accessing our cabin in the winter. It would need to be capable of slow travel in up to 3' of loose snow in worst case situation. Total distance would only be about 3 miles each way and mostly level terrain. All e-mail, advice and info on recommended vehicles greatly appreciated

Maybe you could get two old snowmobiles and use the tracks and suspension from there underneath and two wheels for steering in the front. And use the powerplant from one of the snowmobiles like a jlo or something.

I'am also in the prosess of gathering up parts and info for a ATV. I am considering using VW power because its a fairly small package because u get a trans and diff in one unit. Sprockets would have to be mounted at the axle stubs because the final drive of the trans would be too high. The IRS trans would be better for bolting on sprockets, and brakes.
