Hey Guys,

I just recieved word that ODG has introduced
a new Argo model. Finally, there is a Bigfoot
with a liquid cooled engine.

But, I have to ask. Why couldn't we have a
25hp motor or some other significant design
change (for the better) as well. This update is
kinda boring, and they didn't even give it a new
name! Come on ODG, give us something
better.

I won't be trading my Bigfoot anytime soon. I
wonder how outrageously priced it will be?
What are your thoughts?

Gentlemen,

I've seen the new ARGO 6x6 Conquest and have discovered that it costs $13000 Cdn. The 8x8 Conquest sells for $13,600 Cdn. I could not imagine who would want to pay that much for the engine upgrade. I own an 8x8 Conquest and beleive the difference in price is a joke between the two models. For my money, the 8x8 gives you a lot more. More room and a more comfortable ride. In mechanical terms the 20 HP motor is more taxed on the 8x8 but it has gobs or torque that make manoeuvring easy. The top speed for the new 6x6 conquest has not changed from the bigfoot model by the way. Look at those specs carefully.

The new 6x6 lacks the rear bearing extentions by the way, which the 8x8 has. Why did ODG miss out on this. Afterall, they are charging a premium price for this machine.

After owning vanguards and knowing how well they operate, I wonder how much better the 6x6 Conquest can operate.
Won't it be heavier in the nose ? Not to mention a lot more money.

the new liquid cooled 6 wheel conquest in the camo with the rollbar is retailed at 12,800.00, yes that is right. the camo pattern is a good change for something new but not worth the price at all. I for one cannot believe these machines will sell at all. who is going to pay 13 k for a machine when you can get the near equivalent in a standard bigfoot for 8100.00? not this argonaut. what a joke.

kidding me?!?! It is almost exactly the same
as the Bigfoot and ours was only $10, 000
brand new. 3 grand extra for 2 more hp and
liquid cooling? No thanks.
For that kind of money I can buy a 3 cylinder
diesel briggs, put that in and STILL have
money left over.

And the speed, ODG specs it at 35 kph.
Hmmm... my Bigfoot does 40. It even says
that in the specs! Does that mean the new
model has more power?

I myself couldn't use an 8x8 in the bush. It is
too long and can't maneuver in tight spaces
like the 6x6 can. I want diesel. The bigfoot is
gutless enough as it is. Diesel will just give it
more power. Even with gas it has no
aspirations in regards to performance.
Torque is all that it is about. Hmmm... Nitrous
Vanguard anyone?

where did you buy a bigfoot that goes 40 mph? and for 10,000 dollars I trust you are including the options. It sounds like you payed 10k for a stock bigfoot, if thats the case I would be interested in where you live, and my guess is michigan. argos are 2000.00 bucks more up here than in indiana and ohio. michigans destributor has a real scam going.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I live in
Canada, so I live in metric. My bigfoot does 40
kilometers per hour, not miles. I wish it could
do 40 mph though!

I paid 10 grand retail (before taxes) in
Canadian dollars, not American. I guess that
would be around $6500 for you. I would never
pay more than that. As is, Argo's machines
are terribly overpriced.
What did you pay for yours?

4 years ago 7500.00. These machines go up at least 100.00 dollars a year regardless if they have been improved or not. I know several people that would by one right now but they can by two 4x4 quads for that price so they say no way, they always want a ride on the bigfoot though.

You're right, it is absurd.

I can see spending $10,000 canadian dollars
on a Bigfoot because that is the exact same
price as a Polaris Sportsman 500 quad (nice
machine, but pales in comparison to the Argo
and Max in reliability). Both are very nice
machines. But in the US, they are far too
costly (the argos that is).

Now I can see why RI is cleaning ODG out in
your market. They are way cheaper and are
just as good (in my opinion anyways). I don't
want to start another Argo vs Max war please!!!

Just my 2 cents.

P.S. Does anyone here live in Ontario who
would like to organize some sort of AATV ride?
I live in the northern parts, and it is boring now
because I am the only one around (that I know
of) that has a 6x6. I need someone to ride
with.

I`m getting ready to purchase an Argo and was interested in the 6x6 Conquest.
I just priced it yesterday at $13,800CDN for the bare bones version.
With the accessories and taxes I`m now looking at $18K.
My dealers shop is full of motorcycles and they have no room to stock any Argos.

The 6x6 wetlands Conquest is one fine looking machine! I just love the camo colour on it. This is why I ordered my Max IV in camo as well.

But man,,that 6x6 camo Conquest is sure exspensive!! Almost as high as the 8x8!! I just cant see that high of a price increase over a regular Bigfoot,and all you are getting is a camo body and 20 HP water cooled Kawasaki motor.

I agree, most things are way too expensive and are difficult to justify buying but I need a heavy machine to tow my sawmill and logs.
A small skidder is $29k, at least I can use the Argo for my small lumber business and use it for hunting and transportation to my camp also.
I bought it from one of the links posted on this site.
The salesman seems very knowledgeable about the Argo and is very good to deal with.
They have ordered the accessories and are fabricating a canoe rack.
It should be ready in a week or so.
I ordered it with the handrail,tow hook,storage pouch,bilge pump,alternator, winch,and trailer hitch.

Mike Wendt, You made a really good deal. What engine and what tires? Any accessories? Just so you know, it takes about 25 hours to break in any max so don't run it at a constant speed or pull much until then. The more hours you have on it, the easier it will get to shift and the faster it will go.

Also Kevin, sounds like you have exactly what I have when it comes to accessories (handrail, etc.) The trailer hitch will come in handy as I've personally found out. I also have the dual-axle floating trailer which we havn't used at all but the guy pretty much threw it in there so we didn't complain.

Also, David, post some pics of your machine. Same goes for you, if you want a collage of several pictures, e-mail them to me and I will make you one and e-mail it back so you can upload it.

I'd love to see what people here are ranting and raving about all this time. They just talk and say "oh yeah, I got this and that"... Well, let's see it, not just hear about it! :-)

I have other pictures which were all taken on the dealers lot.
The machine won`t be ready for pick up until next week sometime.
They are removing the roll bar and fabricating a canoe rack plus installing the other accessories.

What`s the best chain and bearing grease for wet conditions?

Kevin, thanks for the great picture of your Argo. I must say that it looks like quite the machine! Have you driven it yet? Is it your first 6x6? What made you decide to purchase it? Tell us your story!

Okay, with greasing there's a little trick. Don't use any high-pressure greasing equipment because you can damage the bearing seals. Just a pistol-grip grease gun will do. The manual says to use Shell Alvania No. 2 or equivalent grease. I can't remember what we use (perhaps someone can help?).

The trick for chains is NOT to use regular oil/grease beacuse it will be thrown off the chains and onto vital parts like the brake pads. The regular manual says to use a grease made by ODG for chains. I **THINK** that you can use any silicone-based aerosol grease, but I will have to double-check on that. If someone else knows about this, please respond. Don't go out buying anything yet, as I am not 100% sure, but I THINK I remember us buying Si-based grease. Apply it every 10 hours of use or more frequently in wet conditions. Hope that helps (at least a little). :-)

Even though I own a Max IV 25 hp,,,I have always loved the look of the Argo Bigfoot. The Camo Bigfoot in your sig pic,,,is a beauty! That is the main reason I bought my Max IV in camo too.

The camo body on my Max IV though,, is not as bright in colour, as the camo body on your Bigfoot. I Hope you have lots of fun with your new Bigfoot,,,and no maintenance problems at all!

The dealer is three hundred miles away, I haven`t driven the machine yet, in fact I`ve never driven an Argo.
The main reason for buying the Conquest is to tow my sawmill and use it for skidding a few logs out of the bush.
I can also use it for duck hunting along the north shore of Lake Huron on my own property.
I have a Skidoo Tundra and a Honda FourTrax but the Honda stops where the water starts and I can`t access the entire property with it.
I can only use the Skidoo for a couple of months out of the year.

Kevin, that is nice. I have a camo Max IV and love it. I like my camo machine as it is a little more subtle but you do have a beauty.
