Hello Guys! (Well, I assume guys...are there any girls out there?)

OK, I know there are lots of recommendations about the type(s) of tires to replace the old one-piece jobs with. My questions is this: I am rebuilding my MAX II (older), and will be moving up to a 4 lug ATV rim. I was thinking about using a similar tread pattern (chevron) tire to replace the old one-piece jobs, but a friend of mine has a nice looking tire on his quad, and I think they might work on the MAX. They are called "Realtors", but I don't remember the manufacturer. I would describe them as having an extended V bar in the center and basic lugs on the edges. The tread kind of looks like this:

You can run them one way for hard pack dirt and rocks, and the other way for sand (like a paddle), mud and snow. At any rate, I road his quad, and they work really well in mud and sand. They have very thick side walls and are almost puncture proof. My friend was power sliding his quad around a corner and got a little wide....he ran a 1 1/2" piece of russian olive through the side and didn't find out until the end of the ride....almost 30 miles later!! He pulled the piece of wood of the tire when he replaced it!! What I was thinking is to shave the edge knobs off and just leave the v-bar. I figure that this would reduce the turning resistance. They would also provide pretty good propulsion in water (not a big deal for me). What I am wondering if is anyone of you have ever seen or used this particular tire on a a 6X6? Also, can anyone give me any advice/tips on shaving the edge knobs off. I'm not worried about water at all (the Carson River is about 1/2 mile from me, but is only 1 to 2 foot deep). I'm more worried about sand and rocky dirt. Regular knobby ATV tire runs about ~$28 at Wal-Mart (22x11x8), and the Realtors (22x12x8) run about $52. Should I go with these or use the regular knobby's? Thanks for the advice guys!

hey bill davis iam rob i have puresports realtors on my argo8x8 beleive it or not there not that good in water an the side walls are so stiff that you must run a high air pressure so bead doesnt fall off rim makes for rough ride i personally get best results from the good year 22x10x8 runamuck n.h.s you can have my realtors you wont like them

Unfortuantly they only have a few tires for 12" rims.....They will fit a MAX IV with only minor adjustments.

Wow, look at liflod's tire link. The wimpiest tire they have is 42" tall, 50+ wide. 20 ply. 5000 lb load rating. Now that is a real chevron tire.
