Any one know what the spring, cap and solid rubber washer are for I found in my oil filter when I removed it. I had to tear it off as some ape had it screwed on so tight I couldn't remove it normally. Not sure if came with the filter or came out of the threaded core of the mount.

many oil filters have an internal valve for a over presher bypass, if some day they become cloged insted of stoping oil flow all together or worse implodeing and releasing all the traped debree they just let over presher go!
