Hi,
I'm new to these boards and just getting back into riding AATV's again. I use to own a old 6x6 Skipper I believe it was called a few years ago. Never worked right and had to get rid of it but I'm coming back and trying to get information on riding areas in Jersey. I hope someone can help me out here. Any information on current laws would be greatly appreciated also. Is it possible to obtain some type of permit to ride on backroads in New Jersey and New York? If any one knows.

Hope to be able to ride with some of you soon.

Thanks for any input,
Mark

Sorry but your are SOL regarding riding in NJ. You can register your AATV/ATV in NJ to ride on public land but there is no public land for riding. There is an ATV/MC park (NJORVP) in Chatsworth NJ. There is a State Park in PA (Pohopoco in Monroe County) you must be registered and insured. You can also contact Pete Cagle in Salem, he has some nice trails. Otherwise you can go to Tower City PA and join their club, they have 5000 acres and hundreds of miles of trails. I registered my Hustler in NJ, what a pain in the ass. The old broads at MV did not have a clue when I said it had 6 tires and 3 axles. I understand if you get caught riding illegally without insurance or registration in NJ or PA the police can confiscate your ATV. Otherwise with a registration you get a ticket. Need any more info email me.

Marc,
So you can registered it to ride on public land but if you do you will get a ticket. Great, who do we have to thank for that, Governer Whitman or would it be the tree hugger freaks?

I was told that you can register them as a boat. Maybe we can get around the laws that way.

Really officer this is my boat. I'm going fishing in that lake which just happens to be in these woods. :-)

Oh well I guess I'll be looking into some clubs and maybe at NY's riding laws since I'm pretty close to state lines. Can't wait to have to deal with DMV. I'd like to register my AATV as a ATV/BOAT please.

Thanks for the info Marc. If anybody has info on areas in NY and PA that would be great.

Mark
