I will be at the Badlands ride. I have been looking foward to it since the last ride there! Anyone want to share a campsite? Russell? After Humphrey I could use a weekend of riding with no work involved.

matt, sorry i should have been more specific,in my inquirery.i meant down at deepwater.as much as i would like to go to badlands,it is not in my finacial future.if you are going to deepwater,me and my buddy were going to hook up with you,and hopefully the guru,to see if we could get some answers to some slight probs we are wiyh the bigfoot.and to anyone else who is going to dw.maybe you can help, with the camping, and where the party is.until we find something we will just stay in the park. hey troy, you got any ideas?and will there be another night ride????

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Midwest atv's #1 since 2000 (Hustler) on Unrecorded Date: Edit

Mike,
The campgrounds is 3 miles North of Deepwater on Hwy 13. The campground name is Sparrowfoot campgrounds. The # there is 660-438-7317. The website is: fap.reserveusa.com/nrrs/mo/spaf/
Hope that helps. Clinton is only 6 miles North on Hwy 13 and has a bunch of hotels and motels in town. No hotel is giving us a discount due to all the fishing tournaments during the summer. After the last ride, I would NOT stay at Safari hotel. They had new owners and I didn't like the place anymore. Right now we are planning on staying at Super 8. I plan on getting the ride going Sat around 9:30 am.

About the night ride, we will have one if enough riders want to go for a night ride. I will also be fishing Sat and Sun morning before we ride if anyone wants to join me.

I hope you guys/gals can make the ride. Any questions about either ride, contact us at the shop @ 888-545-5713 or email me @ hustler1990@netscape.net

I want to thank all who showed up for the Deepwater ride. It was a little dry, but a fun ride anyway. I still found some deep mud pits that I had to try and lost the battle with them.

I need to know if all who is coming to the Badlands ride in 3 weeks will want a night ride again or not. I need to talk with the owners about it. Thanks.

Everyone,
I have good news and bad news about the Badlands ride.

Good news is they will let us have another night ride.

Bad news is that because of the serious accident from the last ride and no one contacted the office to tell them,we will have to wear helmets. Troy from the Badlands found out from the local Hospital and rumors followed. He said that we will have to wear helmets.

troy, hey we had a great time,i'm glad i got to meet you all!oh by the way eddie,we also or should i say dave tried that same pit, roger had to pull him out...ok though i got some pretty good pics. as soon as dave get's his roll developed,i'll disc them and post them.should have left the tire pressure alone tho.spun 1 off and because they were backwards,i couldn't get it to bead so we left around 2:00.hope to get together with you all again soon; sorry it won't be at the badlands, helmets or not,but when you go to deepwater again you can count on me and dave to be there.keep me informed.if nothing else you can e: me.have a great time in attica.

We have one week before we all have to be loaded up for the Attica ride. I have sec. D reserved at the summers carrol camp ground north of Attica. Anyone who wants to camp may stay in section D with myself and a few other six wheeler people.
To all that are coming to the Attica ride... You will get to see a nice peace of six wheeler history!!! You will have to come to the ride to see what it is... Matt

I would like to thank those that showed up for the Badlands ride.

Since the last 2 rides I had, Deepwater and Badlands did not have that good of a turn out, I will only be doing a couple of rides next year maybe. I put on these rides for everyone to have fun and ride together with other aatv's. To put a ride together and do it right takes a lot of time and money and I can not justify spending my time and money to do these rides when only 4 or 5 riders show up. This year I spent over $3,000 to put 4 rides together not including money lost on parts & atv sales due to the shop being closed 3 days in a roll for each ride. I do not make any money for putting these rides together. If anyone breaks down during a ride, I sale them the parts that they need at my cost so they can keep riding over the weekend. I started putting these rides together because I kept seeing people saying that they don't have no place or no one to ride with. I will start planning a ride for end of March or begining of April of next year at Deepwater. Depending on the turn out, this may be the last ride I do next year. If turn out is good, then I will do a Turkey bay ride around June and Badlands ride in Sept. Like I said before, I have not made any money for these rides and I spend a bunch of money to put these rides together. I do it for you guys and if you don't show up for the rides, then I will not keep doing them.

I am sorry about this long post but I am a little upset over the turn out of the last 2 rides. My dad is so upset he don't want us to do anymore rides at all. So its up to you guys if you want us to keep doing these rides or not.

Troy and Bud
Roger and I really enjoyed the Badlands ride. We realize from projects that we have worked on over the years that it takes a good amount of time and effort to get these meets scheduled and off the ground. Thanks for all you do. Sorry we could only be there on Saturday, but once again when I got up Sunday morning my back clearly told us we were not riding for the second day in a row. A little breakfast, some medication and we were on our way home so that I could get back to my own bed. Since I was the only woman on this ride, I thought I'd bail for a few hours and set back and read and give you guys a chance to go get into more challanging territory. From the looks of how muddy Roger was when you guys returned, it must have worked. Thanks you to you and your dad. We do appreciate the effort. Maybe things will pick back up. I'm hoping it is just the heat that is causing us to get smaller attendance.

Bud and Troy, Thank you for holding these rides. I have enjoyed them all. I have made every Attica ride and one Deepwater ride this spring. I have meet alot of nice people and made friends for life. To all those who have not made it... You are missing out on a good time and great friendships made. Thank you again Bud and Troy.

I will be at the deepwater ride in march or april, and I hope we can keep these going. Your planning these events is appreciated, and i have really enjoyed all off them. thanks to you and your dad for all the effort you put into these rides. troy,i wanted to let you know, that i also appreciate what you and your dad have done,i regret that i have only attended 1 ride with you guy's, as i told you before, i am newer to the computer game than i am to sixwheelin, and we both know that ain't been that long either.i could not make the badlands so i went to deepwater instead,(same time), and i did meet another guy from wyandotte co. ks. unfortunatly he was leaving early so i didn't get to ride /him. he had a conquest, and his whole family. all i got was his first name, which was daryl.he said he knew brandon, gene, the distributor in ia.anyway, ihad a great time like i said way earlier, don't give up the ship yet. i have a feeling it is going to get better. mike

I would love to come to one of the Badlands or Deepwater rides some time,,but,,I work the night shift and dont get home unit 1:00 am or some times 2:00 am. I could not drive all night long, with out any sleep, from Lousiana,,and be fit to ride all day. I do though, have 2 weeks off every year ,at the beginning of July, for all of retooling for the new truck models,,at the General Motor assembly plant where I work at.

hi folks,as yet i have not heard if any one wants to stay at one of the motels for the deepwater ride in dec. i would just like to remind you,if want to get the discounted rates, i need to know where everyone wants to stay. hunting season is upon us and the rooms will be going fast. your choices again are as follows the best western $45.00 per night, the days inn $39.00 per night and the knights inn $32.95. sparrowfoot campground is $8.00 per day with electric,$7.00 per day without electric. the showers at spafoot will be turned off for the winter. i don't mean to be pushy,i just don't want anyone to miss out on the reduced rate. i will be staying at spafoot in the B loop so it doesn't matter to me where you all stay. i just want you all to be satisfied and comfortable, mostly i just want you all to show up for the ride, i don't think you'll be dissapointed. if anyone is going to stay in a motel please let me as soon as possible, you can e-mail me at wetsu102@yahoo.com or you can just post it here. thanks mike/wetsu

did anybody ride this weekend? well i did. i went down to deepwater yesterday, and had a blast.roger you might tbe interested in this, everywhere you looked or rode MUD, water, and stuck fourwheelers.it was the perfect time for riding.( i should have set this ride up for this weekend ).
troy, the mudhole that everyone got stuck in,well now you can float through it.every hill was a challenge, and so were most of the turns. i just installed my CABELA'S superwinch, which came in handy more than once.so i had to check it out. i deliberatly tried to get stuck, and only could once. a couple of fourwheelers weren't so lucky.
anyway,to all that responded to this post,i don't think you'll be dissapointed in dec. to all others that responded to the dmise post, thank you for your support. i now realize that trying to get one of these rides going is a little,to say the least challenging.to all that pull them off you have my respect, and admiration.i salute you all.
i hope to see you all in dec. those that can't make it,perhaps another time,or another place. those that do, i think you'll be glad you did. till then. mike

Wetsu- Your description of the conditions at Deepwater certainly piqued my interest. Lets see now, normally that is the week I drive to Daytona and Deepwater is about the same distance in a "slightly" different direction. Hmmm....just maybe this could be more fun than a week of beach and motorcycling! I will work on it.
You are right about the amount of work it takes to get a ride together. It takes me about two weeks to recover after our Humphrey events, it is total burnout(and sunburn). My hat is tipped to anyone who takes the initiative to set up rides and you have all of our thanks.

John, you will love Deepwater if you can ever make it. It is a little like the Badlands with more mud and lots of water. Great fishing also. No sand or pea gravel, with some hills that are very fun to go up and down. If you can't make it this time, I will be doing another ride there myself at the end of March or begining of April. If you talk to Matt or Jon, they can tell you about it.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Roger on Unrecorded Date: Edit

That's odd, Mike, last Monday I almost suggested we ride the weekend that just past! Well, my trailer was/is loaned out anyway with a 3,000 pound machine sitting on it anyway.

You should see the mud pond when there's a dozen of us flailing around in it, LOL.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Markski on Unrecorded Date: Edit

I'd like to know a little more about riding at Deepwater. Do you need any registration on your machine, is it legal to run them in the water there? Is this a public area of some kind? What kind of equipment is required, for example lights, fire extinguisher, horn? And what kind of terrain is it? How many acres of land and a lot of water to play in? Sounds like mud if it rains(snow?) and hills? It's kind of a long way to go to ride but I might be interested in joining yawl! I kind of imagine in December I might be more inclined to wuss out and stay in a motel though! Seems like there was a link here somewhere to "state laws" or something, I'll go look for that now, but it's always good to hear up to date info from people who actually have ridden there. Thanks and I'll be waiting to see your posts here guys.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Midwest atv's #1 since 2000 (Hustler) on Unrecorded Date: Edit

Markski,
You don't need any kind of registration on your machine. This is a public place owned by the city of Deepwater. No cost to ride and no rules. Only equipment I might say would be a winch. Some of the mud holes has no bottom to them. Plan on getting stuck a few times. Most of us will have a winch incase you don't. There is about 1000 acres, in 2 500 acres areas. I have been there 10+ times and still see new place that I haven't been before. I think it is bigger then what they say it is. There is maybe 10 or 12 strip pitts and then the lake. Truman lake is huge, I think over 25,000 acres or more. Hope this answers your questions. If you have any more just ask. Myself or Mike will try to answer them for you. Hope to see you out there. You will have fun.

well i thought i wasn't going to post anymore for a while, buuuuut. you 3 got me going again.
markski, there are about 640 acres to ride,in 1 day you can't ride it all,i've tried. as far as rules,no horn,no helmet ,no flags,no and this is the best part no FEES.as far as motels, well a month ago i could have gotten you a discount, now i don't know, since no one said anything as to where they wanted to stay.if you go back to any of the previous post on prices, i might be able to help. the problem being, hunting season. all the motel's were looking for early bookings.
roger, any time you want to ride there you just let me know, and i'll be there.
john, bring your camera.not only will you see some of the BEST looking country in GOD'S country.you will also get some of the best video shot's.not to mention, some damn good riding.by the way, i would really like to see some of your movies.
troy, i hope your leg is healing and you can make it down. i am beginning to feel like this is going to be good. and i'm telling you right now, anytime, anyplace.and i'll be there.lol.

Wetsu- Thank you for the continuing supply of info. It looks like about 1000 miles and 16 hours. Do-able if the weather is not too wintry.
I have many videos available. I guess we are not supposed to sell things on this board but this is a hobby, not a business. You (or anybody) can contact me at jsschwab@localnet.com} to find out what is available. Or leave a message here since my email is not always reliable.
You can bet that if I can make the trip my camcorders will come along. A huge mudhole with six machines stuck in it would be a shame to miss!

Mike, the healing process is going great. I am planning on being there either Friday night or Saturday morning as long as I can get the gas money to get there and back.

troy, i know you are a max dealer, buuuut do you by any chance carry or know of a replacement throttle cable for my bigfoot? mine is starting to fray again and i'd be pretty unhappy if it broke while i was there.i don't want to call my dealer because he is just to expensive. the first one wasn't bad since it was still under warranty,it was free.but i don't think i can be lucky twice. i'll check with my other dealer buddy and see if he can get one or has one. let me know. see you in a couple of weeks. mike

Mike,
I don't have any throttle cables in stock for a Bigfoot. I will see what I can do for cost for one for you. If I can get one cheap enough for you, I will bring it to the ride.

What year is your Bigfoot? I might need to know that just in case it might still under warrany.

Mike, have you guys had any rain in the last month, since all the big rains... I get the feeling that with all the warm weather we had, it's going to be hard dirt, dry and dusty. I know the front's coming through today but doesn't look like any real moisture.

If that's the case, I probably won't make the trip this weekend, I had enough of the dry stuff in August. Am willing to come on short notice sometime when it's not so dry.

Roger, I was out in the area of Deepwater about 3 weeks ago and there where still mud around. This morning we just got about 1" to 2" of snow in St. Peters, and over 6" in Southern MO. I don't know how much Deepwater has gotten yet, but I do know another front with rain and/or snow is going to come through again later today and another one this weekend. I will see if I can get you a better weather report for you today.

ok roger here is the lastest weather update. at 6:30 a.m. today clinton already had 3 inches of snow on the ground.by noon they were to get an additional 2 inches. the high for fri. is now to be in the 50's,sat's high's upper 40's. sunshine both days.so it just might be muddy, and alittle snow on the ground.that's the best i can do for you.one thing's for sure,no dust. mike/wetsu

Thanks for the info, guys. Have been looking at the maps and wondered if the area caught the edge of the storm to the south.

Now I have to reclaim my loaned trailer and back out of work this weekend!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By mike martindale (Wetsu) on Unrecorded Date: Edit

roger get your trailer, load up your conquest, and head north big boy. i'll be leaving kc around 8am friday morning(tomorrow). camper's loaded, firewood's loaded, bigfoot loaded, expecting much mud, maybe even a little snow.

troy, if you can make it down friday evening we'll be at sparrowfoot B loop. if not we'll see you saturday morning.

to anyone else, if you miss this, you'll probably hate yourself in the mornin'.

YAH THE LOGISTICS OF GETING EVERYONE TOGETHER FOR THE 1400 MILE CONVOY STARTING OUT IN THE SNOW ARE A BIT TOUGH, BUT AS THE GUY WHOS HAULING 2 AATVS ON A NEARLY UN~TOWABLE TRAILER WITH OF ALL THINGS A FRT.WHL.DRIVE MINI VAN, AAGH, SPRING SOUNDS PRITY GOOD

A small turnout but I had a great time! Was good to get the hell out of town, and soak up some outdoors. Mike and Dave's camp had big fires, gallons of chili, a smoker full of ribs. I got a care package of it for my way home.

Riding was excellent, snow and ice in the morning with some melting by noon, with mud underneath. We laughed about my "dry and dusty" comment all wekend.

well my first attempt to put together a ride went ok.i want to thank troy, roger, and casey for showing up.the ride was almost perfect;mud, snow, water, ice, and plenty of sun.everyone got stuck aleast twice, some of us alittle more.i don't know about anyone else, but i had a great time.david,i will look forward to riding with you in the spring,or anytime.i am realy looking forward to riding with alot of you.4 machines was good, but i'd like to see 40,or more.4 in the mud at one time slinging goo everywhere trying to move was something to see,and to be apart of.again thanks for the memory,it will be along time before i forget that.
