Troy:
Thanks for the dates. I have it on our calandar. We are ready for an escape weekend. I hope we do get to go. They are changing Roger over to another screwed up schedule. It will take a lot of our weekends away. I hope the new schedule pans out for this one. We are going to plan on seeing everyone there.

I would like to make it to the Badlands run in June. I have the Vacation all set. I live in Jackson Mi. and would leaving here on Friday morning the 21st. Are there motels in the area and has anyone got phone numbers for them. What are the rules in the Badlands. Do we need flags and so on?
I see they had a great time in Humphery last weekend. I will be there in July. Had a great time in 2000/2001. Hope to meet you all in Attica in June. Larry (Sti-Me)

Larry, there are hotels in Danville, IL. It is about 20 min drive from the park. I am talking with all of them to try to see which will give us the best price for a room. I will post the #'s when I can get the best price for people. The rules are basically, you need a flag and everyone riding and/or driving will need a helment. In the past, they have dropped he helment if you have a rollbar and seatbelts on your atv. I will post as much as I can sa soon as I can get all the facts for everyone. Hope to see you there, you will love the place.

If that don't interfere then we will be leaving Friday morning also but probably not quite that early. We had a great time at the Badlands last year, it's a great place to ride, and I'm sure you will like it also. Do you know where you will be staying yet? If you need it I have a list from last year of hotels and campgrounds in the area with phone numbers for them. If you need the list let me know and I will e-mail it to you.
See you at the Badlands hopefully! Al

It looks like Roger and I will be coming to the Badlands ride. It looks like he is going to be able to get away from work. We are bringing another couple with us that run an Argo 8 wheeler. They have never been on a ride. The 8 wheeler is used for hunting. They'll be a little more causious riders like us. (I'm the chicken). The last run we were on was last September at the Badlands. We've not been able to break away from home for a million reasons, most of which is Rogers work. What time are we getting to the gate at the Badlands. Hopefully we'll be there for at least part of Sunday also. It depends on when Roger has to get back to work.

See you there.

I was planning on going to the Badlands ride. I was there last September. It was one of the best places i have been to for riding in over 15 years of ATV and AATV riding. I was planning on going to this ride untill I found out about the helmet thing. I do hope everybody else has a great time. I will not be back untill they repeal the helmet rule.

By the way I do wear a helmet when I am on my Harley and my snowmobile. I am not anti-helmet. Just anti-helmet on my MAX IV.

Ok guys/gals, I think I got it so we will not have to wear a helmet for the ride. This is not for sure, but if they do, here will be the new rule for us.

You must have both, searbelts & roll bar/cage.
You must sign a waver/release form.

I should know for sure today I hope. I will post when I find out.

This Badlands ride is sounding better all the time! It looks like a few of us will be attending from western NY. If someone could please post the "details" of where we will meet and camp, road directions etc. it would sure be appreciated by us first-timers. To Mr not-going I would not miss an event like this over wearing a helmet. Pick up an inexpensive half or quarter helmet with a DOT sticker on it and that will satisfy most authorities. They are light and you barely know that you are wearing them. We keep just such helmets around for when we ride Alleghany National Forest in PA.(one section of which was recently made available for use by AATVs)

If you can get the ok on no helmets as long as you have roll bars and seatbelts, it will be great. I know many will still have to wear the helmets, but maybe it'll prompt a few more to come that do have the roll bars and seatbelts. You are certainly getting a giant step further than I did with my email. I agree with New York. We'd be there helmets rule or not.

Thanks everyone for the campsite invites. I plan to arrive around 4pm friday. I will have my truck and enclosed trailer and my companions will have a medium-sized motor home and trailer. It sounds like the camp area is pretty flexible so I guess we can figure out who will camp where when we get there. I am assuming that we can ride from where we camp, someone correct me if I assumed wrong. I plan to put together a video of the weekend so everyone get a haircut, polish your machine so as to look your best! There will be a good opportunity for a certain someone to jump there Max into the water. Hmm? I wonder if a Max will outjump an Argo? That should start something.

I'll be there again this year. I will probably be in the motel with Troy and Bud but I'm sure we will join the campfire gang like we did last year.
John, you can't ride from your campsite to the Badlands. These are separate places miles away. We usually ride from when the park opens (9am) to about 6pm or so, then go to the campground or motel. Flags from Wal-Mart are fine and the Badlands also sells their own flags, at a slightly higher price.
The big water jump is in Deepwater, Missouri. We do a lot of splashing at the Badlands but there are no big jumps. Besides, you know a Max will jump better. That true six wheel drive gives better air traction...

I posted a message as soon as we returned home on Sunday, I guess it went to the great unknown.

We had a great time at the Badlands. We can ride down the road at home but it takes someplace like the Badlands to really find the mud holes. Thanks Matt for pulling us out. Also thanks to Brandon and Troy for another pull out. We really had fun and I guess would take the prize on the two muddiest people. Matt, you have one awsome machine built up. Roger was really impressed. Argo should consult with you and they'd have a better machine. Those tires and engine really walk and talk. They get the job done. Let us know how they work on a stock ARGO.
Did the night ride happen? Once we got in the motel room with the air-conditioning, we decided to stay put. We opted not to ride on Sunday as we had picked up too much sunburn. We didn't know how bad until we washed off the mud.
It was great to see all of you again and we look forward to seeing you again in the fall. Troy, has a date been set yet? Let us know.
Those of you who did not make it really missed a weekend with every possible obstacle, from sand to really mean mud.

Thanks to Troy and Bud for organizing the Badlands trip. What a great time!! I was skeptical about driving nine hours to ride in a 700 acre gravel pit but it far exceeded my expectations. That orange trail is the best I have ever experienced. The night ride was the highlight of the weekend for me. I just finished the master of the video. I will start copying tomorrow, the first ones will be in wednesday pm mail. It is a great video, about two hours long. Some of the highlights are Roger and Bonnie doing what appears to be the macarena on the hood of their Argo trying to get unstuck and Dave almost going swimming, again trying to get unstuck. Do you see a theme here?

But my wife who worked there and myself both got laid off June 28 when they laid off 17,000 people. Right now my first priority is getting another job so my family can have food and shelter over our heads. I also don't have a computer anymore so my email address is no good anymore. If you or anyone else need to get in touch with me, email me at sales@maxatv.com

Thanks Tom. Sometimes taking that camera out and trying to capture a weekend is a royal pain, but when someone says that they enjoy the end product it makes it worthwhile. That is also why it will remain a hobby, never a business.

Hi Russ I am glad you are enjoying it. I'll bet you especially like the part where you damn near drowned me at the water slide. That came out real good on the video! I am still cleaning mud and water out of places that I have never had to clean before after that one! See you at the Jamboree.

The bigfoot has been riveted back together but I still need to put the new blower in and get it cleaned up. Other than that I am ready to rock. Becky is going to give Matt some shirts to deliver to me...don't let him wipe his A** with them.
John
I saw that spot in the video...still got water in the ears?
Russ

Hi Russ.. Yeah I got the water out of my ears finally, but I still haven't been able to get those Indiana stains out of my favorite vintage Humphrey dice run tee shirt. Oh well remind me to wear brown next time.

Hustler.. Thank you for selling the raffle tickets. Someone is going to get a new Max11 for $5, not a bad deal. Maybe we will raffle an Argo again next year.

Jon ... Yours was mailed the same day as the rest. Perhaps it is stuck in the snow somewhere, is it still snowing up in Michigan? We hear that about Buffalo all the time, I couldn't resist. We are doing the Youghiogheny this weekend in kayaks, if I survive I will see you all at the Jamboree!!
