Troy, Do you still plan on having the ride at the badlands in Attica IN on sept. 15th and 16th ?
I plan on being there along with about 15 other people I have talked too. I also talkked to Orr's they said they would try and come. I was at the 1st Attica ride a month ago and I just got back from Humphry this week. Humphry was great but I do belive that the Attica ride is just as good or better! You have more variety at the badlands, Mud,trails, water, big hills, sand dune's. If you could talk the owners into doing a night ride, letting us camp there, and holding some events like the Humphry ride I feel it would draw in alot of machines. It will be hard to beat the night ride in the Humphry mountan, That was a blast. Let me know, If you need help getting it all togeather I am willing to help. Any body else wanting to come to Attica, Lets make more rides like Humphry to go too, I don't know about you all but once a year for a big event is not enofe for me. I would like to see a big event in different places once a month. The turkey bay ride sounds like it is coming to a good. start. Help me out guys, letts get more rides going. Matt

Matt,
Yes we are having the second ride @ the Badlands the weekend of Sept 15th & 16th. With my brother having brain surgery to remove a tumor and me having knee surgery on my left knee and having surgery on my right knee on Aug 17th, I have not had time to do anything about this ride. If you want, try to talk to as many people you can about going. We will not be able to camp out there this time, but they said maybe next spring if we have a ride there then. The owners of the park want to get to know us better. I am able to get up now and plan on starting to promote the Badlands ride. Right now I have over 50 machines that say they will be there. I would like to see more. Thats not counting the 15 you talked about. I just counted 1 for you. Can't wait til the ride.

Letts get ready for the Badlands ride!!! As I said before, I was at the 1st attica ride and the humphry ride last week, The attica ride has the opertunity to be as good a ride as humphry, I don't want it to be a contest of who's ride is better, I just want there to be more big rides to go too. I currently have a few six wheelers and love to go riding along with other people who enjoy the sport. Everyone I have ever meet riding has been great new freinds. I would love to see some older machines there also, Unlike the humphry ride, at attica the two strokes can streach there legs. At the humphry ride the poor two strokes had to idle, stop and wait. At attica there is lots of room to open them up. I am thinking about bringing my old starcraft with a yamaha 440 along with the max and bigfoot. The stacraft will rip up the pea gravel hills!!! Come on everyone letts all go to Attica badlands ride sept. 15th and 16th!!! Matt

Hi everyone!!! I talked to Becky Orr today. She will donate door prizes for the sept. 15th and 16th ride. I hope to see some postings here on people planing to come. Matt

Matt
Roger and I are planning to come. Again, depending on his work. We already have our room reserved. Always best to plan ahead and think positive. We enjoyed the Badlands ride with the whole group last time much better than when we went alone. Like you say, lots of new friends. I think Becky is considering going to the Badlands run herself. She asked me where we were staying when we were all in for breakfast before leaving Humphreys. Troy, I hope you feel like being bounced around in the Max by the time for Badlands. I've had two knee surgeries myself and I wouldn't have wanted my knees being hit all that soon. You can protect them a little though by wearing knee pads. Chris and Dave wear them. I bet it would be a real help in protecting at this time. See you at the Badlands.

Bonnie,
I will be there and I will ride. I just don't know how much. I will be having my right knee done this Monday, the Doctor moved it up a couple of weeks. I hope they both will be ok for the ride. Right now, I can not ride in a Max due to the surgery I just had on my left knee. Hope to see a bunch of you there for the BadLands ride.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By MaxRules (Brandon_price) on Unrecorded Date: Edit

Bonnie has brought my attention to the new rules at the Badlands.
You must be 18 to ride or have a parent sign you in. Or, get a waiver filled out and notarized and have an adult sign you into the park. More red tape for me.
There is a passenger limit of TWO for vehicles without a roll bar or cage protecting all the passengers. Everyone without a bar/cage must wear a helmet and every vehicle must have an orange flag.

The full rules list can be found at http://www.badlandsoffroad.com .
It looks like this is turning out to be the biggest 6x6 ride in the central US. If everyone shows up we should have about 50 amphibs. Let's have a roll call, who is going to be there?

Do they have the flags available at the badlands or do we have to make our own? If we have to make our own what are the requirements (size,height,e.t.c.)

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By MaxRules (Brandon_price) on Unrecorded Date: Edit

Alan you can buy flags at the Badlands. Wal-Mart has what you need for $5.

We will be going and my brother may or may not be able to come. After the brain surgery, he don't know if he can do that kind or riding or not. He will go to the Doctor to find out. We will also be bring a few Customers with us. Don't know how many yet.

To all that plans on going to the ride and stay in a hotel, none of the hotels in Danville will give us a discount due to 3 other events going on and they all plan on booking up. If you plan on getting a hotel in Danville, you need to reserved a room ASAP. Looking forward to seeing you there.

At the Badlands ride what day will be the best day to be there since we will be traveling a long way (about 12 hours from Ok.)? We would like to show up on the day most of the others are there. Looks like we will be taking our Max iv and a Max ll. I've modified the ll with my new roller sproket chain adjusters that work great. Can't wait to see everyone from last time and many more new faces!

John, It looks like saturday will be the best turn out. I will be there for both days along with the people I am bringing and 5 machines. Matt

We agree with Matt. Saturday will probably be the highest attendance day. We had to leave on Sunday last time to get Roger back for work that evening. This time we are going to try to stay for at least half of Sunday. If you are trying to find a motel, heres another. We stay in Crawfordsville, IN. We had stayed at the Days Inn, but have changes off to the Comfort Inn. Didn't have a pleasant stay at Days Inn last time. The number for the Comfort Inn in Crawfordsville is (765)361-0665. This is just off the exit ramp from the main highway. We swoop back onto the highway and run up to the Attica turn off and were there in no time. Hope to see all of you there.

Boy, looks like it is going to be a heck of a ride this time around. It's good to come here almost every day and see a post of someone new coming to this ride. Everybody out there thinking about it, STOP, this is the time to stop thinking about it and go ahead and join in the fun. You need to make it to this ride if you want to have a great time and spend time with some of the best people in the sport of sixwheelling. Don't miss out on this one!

John, I think Saturday would be the best day to show up. Glad to here that you are coming. Last time we talked, @ the Deepwater ride, you didn't think you would come. Hope to see you and your parents this time again. There will be a bunch of door prizes given out this ride. I was told that Becky Orr is donating some prizes, I haven't had a chance to talk to her yet. We are donating a bunch of stuff, shirts, low pressure tire gauges, etc. There are a couple of Reps from RI showing up and they should have some stuff also to give out. My dad and I are still looking for others to donate. We hope we can get enough for every 6x6 owner to leave with a nice door prize.

Anyone that wants to donate anything for this ride, please contact us @ 1-888-545-5713. Thanks

The ride at Turkey Bay was 2 weeks ago. It is a good place to ride. It has mud, hills, rocks, and beaten trials. It is in Kentucky. Look at the South Western Kentucky area and you'll spot Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. You drive down the trace between the two lakes about 30 miles to the Turkey Bay OHV area. You are getting real close to the TN and KY line. There are about 2500 acres where you just tackle whatever you think your big enough to tackle. They have Jeep and 4 wheel drive trucks go through there too..There is a website area on Turkey Bay which will give you even more information. Try it, you'll like it. There is a run at the Badlands in Attica, IN on Sept 15-16. Join us.

JUST CALLED THE BADLANDS ABOUT THE TWO PERSON RULE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I COULD RIDE THREE PEOPLE IN MY BIGFOOT AS LONG AS THEY HAD HELMETS EVEN THOUGH I DONT HAVE A ROLE CAGE AND BELTS. THE GUY TOLD ME THAT RULE WAS MADE BECAUSE OF QUADS AND PEOPLE RIDING IN THE BACK OF TRUCKS. I AM GONNA HAVE TWO PASSENGERS SO IF YOU WANT TO CHECK FOR YOURSELF THEIR NUMBER IS (765)-762-2981 IF ANYONE DOES CALL AND DOUBLE CHECKS AND GETS A DIFFERENT ANSWER THAN I DID PLEASE LET ME KNOW. CRAZIER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By MaxRules (Brandon_price) on Unrecorded Date: Edit

Many rules have changed at the Badlands:
You can have multiple passengers if all wear a helmet.
You don't have to wear a helmet if you have a roll bar/cage and seat belts that will protect everyone.
You must be 18 to enter the park. Or, have a consent form filled out and notarized and have an adult sign you in.
It will be $15 for two days.
Every vehicle must have an orange flag. These are sold at the park if you don't have one.
And the most important rule, absolutely no alcohol is allowed in the park. Do not give us a bad reputation for trying to bring beer. You bring it, you get kicked out.

After todays events, the rise in gas prices and what looks like a problem getting gas in some locations, are we still going to have the run at the Badlands. Just let us know. I just got gas on my normal routine and most gas stations are running out and the only gas you can get ahold of is 93 Oct. As of now we are still planning to go. If plans change, let us know.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By MaxRules (Brandon_price) on Unrecorded Date: Edit

I was worried about the gas prices at first, but most all gas stations have the same price. It had nothing to do with the attack but prices go up when so many idiots buy gas like there is no tomorrow. Now that everyone has a full tank the prices should level off. I think in the few areas it is $5 per gallon, they only did that to make people stop buying it.
High gas prices are not going to happen. The Badlands ride will be the biggest in the Mid US and it will not be called off.

I just installed my new roll bar from Leo's ASV on my Bigfoot. It looks great!!! No more helment's for me at Attica! My seat belts will be in tomorrow. Matt

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By MaxRules (Brandon_price) on Unrecorded Date: Edit

All gas prices around my town are at the normal $1.51 to $1.59. I hear some stations were cheating on the prices just to get more money. The government promises to prosecute any gas station doing that now.
The crazed buying of gas and groceries yesterday ranks high on my idiot list.

I just wanted to say thank you to Midwest ATV for putting on the great ride at the Badlands this past weekend. My wife Suzie and I really had a great time and enjoyed meeting a lot of great people. Can't wait to do it again!

I want to thank everyone for coming to my rescue after my unscheduled dismount. The ER Dr. said the good news is nothing was broken, bad news is a bruised lung. My passanger had a little road rash. The stiffness and soreness will last a couple of days, but the great time I had and the many new friends will last a lifetime.
Again, thanks to everyone who helped me.
Jim Oxender

Glad to hear you're ok Jim. I think it turns out that the worst part of the crash is the fact that it wasn't your machine!
I got some excellent one of a kind Argo crash pics. I took a total of 136 pics at the ride and should have them posted by Wednesday night if not sooner.
Jim was driving his '93 Max II on Saturday. First he hit a tree and bent an axle. Then he got stuck and broke his winch. Next thing I know he is getting towed back to camp after slamming into a tree at high speed. It smashed the body in all the way to the dash. The HDPE held its ground and popped back out without a crack!

The most likely to crash award goes to Jim "Tree Magnet" Oxender.

I have a couple questions for all who attended the last ride I had @ the Badlands.

1) I think everyone had a great time this last ride, but what would make it a better ride?

2) Would you like me to have one or two rides there a year or more?

3) If you would want me to have more then one ride, when would you want them? I was thinking beginning of April and middle of Sept.

I plan on talking to the owners of the Badlands soon and also plan on talking to a few atv magazines to maybe cover one or more rides for me next year to put in there magazine. I also want to start planning on the rides so I can get more donations for door prizes and maybe some Corporate sponsership. I would like to give out awards for the person who drove the longest to the ride, the fastest aatv, etc. I would also like to have a night ride. Please give me some input.
Thanks
Troy

Troy, The rides at the badlands have been a blast. I would like to see more than two rides a year. It would be great if we could camp there and have a night ride. I enjoyed having everyone over at our camp site on saturday night. Matt

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By argogeru on Unrecorded Date: Edit

Troy,
I think a spring ride in may or june and a fall ride in september would be great. One ride their is not enough for me and most others. a night ride would be the only improvment to the ride. you guys did a great job with both events their this year, it will only get better.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Scott Pearcy (Bluechips) on Unrecorded Date: Edit

Troy,
We had a real good time at the Badlands. All of the people that came were great. I love seeing what others can and can't do with their machines (driving and/or improvements). That helps me learn what I can do with my machine. So for me the more rides the better. Anytime of the year is good for me. I only live about 25 min. away. I would like to see a night ride. I'll have to make sure my lights will stay on that long without running down my battery. If there is anything I can do to help get anything setup or done just let me know.

Mark, right now no. I just found out that I will need 2 surgeries. My ulnar nerve is damage in both arms and I have nerve damage in my neck which will also need surgery sometime. I have been talking with my dad and some other people and we are thinking of having the first ride in May instead of June. Shouldn't be as hot then plus the shop is closing in June for vacation instead of May. I haven't been able to talk with the owners of the park to see what dates they have open. I will post as soon as I can. I was thinking maybe May 17th & 18th.
