The Deepwater ride is over and the Badlands is still about two months away. I have emailed a few people about riding at Turkey Bay within the next few weeks. I know there are a few people on here that would like to ride at Turkey Bay. I've been wanting to ride there since last year. Let me know if you can came and when would be the best time.
Kyle from TN?
Roger and Bonnie?

We would really love to go to Turkey Bay when you do but we can't go in the next couple of weeks. We are going to Humphreys and on vacation. The first chance we will have to even consider it will be the weekend of August 25,26. It is a neat place to ride. We've always ridden by ourselves and would really like to ride there with a group. It is different and interesting. Let us know when you decide on. If we can, we'll be there. We'll watch for a posting as our email server is a little messed up right now. Some messages we get, some we don't.

Hi Brandon, you can count me in on the turkey bay ride. Were is turkey bay? I live on the IN,MI border near Sturgis MI. Also on the comment roger and bonnie made about getting messages, I use hot mail and have the mail box filter on, All of the posting e-mails go to my bulk box. How can I fix this? Matt

Brandon,
Let me know when you want to go. I only had surgery on my left knee. I will be getting my right knee done soon, but maybe I can make it for the ride. Let me know.

August 11-12 looks like a good weekend. That gives a few weeks break time for those that go to Humphrey. I want to do it before school starts which is around August 27. Only 4-1/2 more months of that BS.
I have been wanting to go to Turkey Bay since last year with some quad guys. I hope a few of you 6x6ers can come. Matt, Turkey Bay is in Kentucky, near Paduca (sp?). It's going to be a five hour drive for me.
Bonnie (or anyone else who has been to Turkey Bay)- Do they check for ATV registration? I understand you have to buy a permit to ride in the park. My Max is not registered, will there be any trouble? Also, I might have my dual exhaust ready by then. Not much muffler with that setup but many quads are louder. Will they check it?

About Turkey Bay Aug 11-12. I just called and made our reservations at the Best Western, Grand Rivers. They said they are already over 1/2 filled up. There are plenty of motels in this huge fishing area but if you want to get a room at the top of the Trace you'd better set it soon. There are always fishing tournaments going on. You won't believe some of the boats you'll see that are there to go fishing. Just thought I'd pass on this info.

That date sounds good to me. I will have surgery on my other knee the following week. I should be able to go, but my dad will not be able to show up. I will check with my Customers and try to bring some down there. Brandon get in touch with me and we need to talk about the ride.

Brandon,

You will be receiving mail from me. Inside you’ll find a sample of the form you will fill out when you enter Turkey Bay. The other page has the rules for Turkey Bay. I don’t have time to read through them now as I am packing for New York, but you can read them and see what else needs to be posted for others to know.

Roger and I will try to be there. It will depend on whether he has to work. Probably at the best, we’ll get to our Motel around 1 am.

At Turkey Bay you have to wear helmets unless you have roll bars and seat belts. We did not have to have flags on the vehicle. The charge is $15.00 per vehicle. The pass is good for 3 consecutive days. You basically go wherever you think you can go. It is 2500 acres for OHV. Be sure to pick up a map when you sign in. Be sure you take your sodas, snacks and lunch with you. No concession stand.

You’ll need to set a spot for everyone to meet. They park in several places.

We like to stay at the north end of the Trace. One side is Ky Lake, the other side is Lake Barkley. This is one of the closest Motels. We stay at the Best Western, Grand Rivers. (1-800-928-2711). They have a large rear lot which can hold a lot of trucks with trailers. There is a gas station and good restaurant setting just beside it.

That’s all I can think of now. If you have questions, I’ll answer after NY.

Bonnie thanks for the Turkey Bay info. I will probably be camping there. It is $8 per night. I plan to do some fishing also, probably at night when we can't ride.
I've never been to TB so I don't know the parking areas. Does anyone have an exact address to the park? I need directions from MapQuest.
I'm glad you sent that waiver form, Bonnie. I see that since I'm 17, I will need someone that is 18 or older to sign for me. That means I need to get to the park at about the same time as you, Matt, or another person who will be riding with us. I was hoping to get there early Friday but I'll have to wait if no one else will be there. Let me know when you are getting to the park either on here or private email.

Brandon-
I see in another thread that you were just at LBL/Turkey Bay. What was your impression of the ORV riding area? Are there lots of tall hills to climb or is it mostly rolling hills? Lots of muddy spots to chug through? Thick wooded trails? Tell me everything!

My two best friends and I are trying to plan a trip to Turkey Bay sometime in mid-September. I will be bringing my Max II and my 2x2 Rokon TrailBreaker. They should both be a lot of fun there. Hope to see a good selection of quads and show 'em just what my "weird" machines can REALLY do! I plan to send 'em slinking home with their tails between their legs! HA! Just kidding.

Actually, most guys on 3-wheelers, quads and dirtbikes just stare and scratch their heads when they first see my Max or Rokon; one or two may chuckle. But a few minutes later, after they see how kick-ass these machines are, they're all smiling, hooting, giving "thumbs up" and wanting to know more! (and even a few "Hey, can I try it out!?")

Turkey Bay or Bust!

Roger and I enjoyed the weekend ride at Turkey Bay. Thanks for setting it up. You contacted a lot of individuals to get the turnout you did. We enjoyed meeting all the new quad riders that we hadn't had the pleasure of meeting before. Clay, with the hat-hair needs a trim though.

You really know the ATV's well. Especially the 6 wheelers. After the brief drive test, Roger said you really have your machine set up nicely. You know what your machine is capable of and you put it through it paces.

Sorry about chickening out on the steepest of hills on Sunday. My better half probably would have given it a shot if I hadn't been riding at the time, but with my previous injuries from a auto accident I just chickened out. I was too afraid of rollover. You made the trip look easy.

You must do a lot of reading as well as working on the machines because you are just a wealth of knowledge.

We hope to see you and ride with you again at the Badlands in September.
