It would be great to here from some swamp players in Wiconsin! With all the woods and swamps there has to be some good times to be had.

Hey Curt, there are good times in the swamps in NW Wisconsin. Before and after hunting season I spend some time working cleaning up trails and brushing out areas on our family land. Somehow, my 6x6 loses it's way and it's into the swamps. It's got a mind of it's own. On many work outings,less work get done and more play is the rule.

Pre freeze swamps can be tough and I usually get stuck a time or two. Frozen swamps are not always frozen and just when you think you can get through, you hear the ice crack and down you go.

One draw back to cold weather swamping is when your done and at night if I can't get the 6x6 inside someplace for the night, the next day it's frozen up with ice on the outside.

I always get it on the trailer before the temps drop so if it freezes up, I can trailer it into town and hopefully get it inside to thaw.

Last year during hunting season, I crossed into a swamp and got stuck when I broke through the ice.

It was a sunny day with temps in the single digits. The sun warmed up the ice in the swamp enough to allow the weight of the 6x6 to break through. Well to make a long story short, that night it went way below zero. In the morning, a cold battery would not turn over the engine. I had so much ice on the outside of the machine that I could not open up the top of the tub to get to the battery. I took it into town, where it took several hours to thaw in a drafty but luke warm garage.

By the time I could get the machine opened up, the battery had warmed enough to turn it over and start. Then I had to pull the drain plugs because all of the outside ice had melted and a lot went into the machine. When I pulled the plugs, I had several gallons of water coming out.

I am thinking about installing permanent jumper cables that exit out the vent slots in the upper tub so I can at least get it started the next time it ices up and freezes.

It's a good thing that it does not leak water into the lower tub because I would have had frozen up axles, sprokets and chains.

Are you located in America's Dairyland and looking for a place to ride?

It would be nice to have someone to ride with.

Hello argohunter it is good to know that there is someone in wi. who likes to play. I'm new to this game but willing to learn. I love my max 900t it seen to do all that I want it to.Ilive in the Rice Lake area of the state. I will be using it for hunting this fall.Like to go after those swamp bucks.

Hello Curt, It looks like we are practically neighbors. I live in the Hudson area. It's a little over an hour drive for me to Rice Lake.

I hunt a little down here but mostly hunt about an hour north of you. Lots of swamps to explore. I use GPS in my Max especially in the swamps because they are so big and I don't care to get lost when you get deep into them and can't find an easy way out.

Do you have a place close to home where you can ride? I run around my place at home but it's no challenge. I have a couple of hills to play on but nothing big.

I made a trail around the backside of my property at home that I enjoyed driving but I stopped using it when I decided that it was disrupting the game birds and animals from feeding and I sure enjoy watching them during the off season.

I'm sure that your 900T can handle just about anything that you put in front of it. Are you set up with a winch and other goodies? It seems that I saw a 900T listed for sale in WI in the photos ads on this site. Only has 33 hours.

I know what you mean about the swamp bucks. I have not had the time to get out bow hunting so far this season. Time to be out is right about now or in a couple of weeks.

I'm taking a couple of weeks vacation after the gun season is over and I plan to spend a lot of time riding in the swamps going out for late season bucks with my bow.

Good to hear that their is another Maxer in this part of the state. I'm not prejudice, I'd be happy to have any aatv owner to share tales with in the swamps. It's the enjoyment of the sport, not the brand of the machine that's important.

Maybe we can meet up and do some swamping together.

Hello argohunter good to hear that you are that close.

I have a little over 150 acers of woods and swamp. Little bear creeks runs throw my place.The swamp is plenty masty.No bottom in some places.

That 900t you seen on the sight is mine. I have 2 more at the house. One is a 900t with tracks the other is a polaris 6wheeler. The wife went into the garage and seen 3 of these 6x6 setting there. one has to go. I may need to drop the price to 7900.00.

Ineed to get winches on my machine soon. There is not enouph time or money to get this done, at this time. Talk to you soon,have a great one.

Sounds like fun with the creek. I know about the no bottom swamps. When I head into swamp that I have not been in before, I like to carry along a stout branch. My Max does not have enough HP to always get through some of the muck so I always plan on getting stuck. When I can't make any more forward progress and I have to winch, I use the branch to test for the bottom so I don't go over my head when I step out to find an anchor point.

Waders are nice to have but it's hard to drive wearing them, hard to walk in the swamp with them and don't help at all when you can't touch bottom with your feet, but it beats getting wet when it's cold and there is no place to dry out. I carry a camo pfd just in case it's too deep.

I usually don't venture too far in when I am by myself for the obvious reasons. Cell phones don't work too well so I can't depend on getting any help.

I have 110 acres of brush covered fields and woods with swamp going through. A neighboring 80 acres is 90 percent deep swamp which is tough going even after a real long freeze.

I have hunting access to several square miles of commercial woods that have plenty of creeks, beaver dams, swamps, you name it. It's nice to get way back in and away from the other hunters that stay close to their vehicles.

Sure would like to take that other machine off your hands but don't see that happening right away.
