Chief Lockwood and I (Greg Thropp) want to thank all of you that showed up for our Eastern Amphibious Jamboree last year. We had a great time putting on the event and hope to see everyone again this year. I really enjoyed meeting many new friends. We have reduced costs and included a meal and brought back the rodeo. There are cash and trophy prizes and lots of mud and water and trails and fun. The Chiefs night rides are the greatest. We will have a casino nearby and are open all year by appointment. This is the same event hosted by the same Chief Lockwood as Humphry just a different location. Everyone is welcome at any of our atv events. All funds generated from our atv events have been used to pay expenses, maintain and improve our trails and property, and donations have been made to four local fire departments. If you want to be on our mailing list please send your address to GThropp@msn.com our web site is www.copperridgetrails.com Sincerely and hope to see you this summer, Greg

Up here in western NY as well as the rest of the northeast, it has been nothing but a deep snowy freeze for the last month. The thought of a warm July night ride sounds like heaven right now. I sure can't wait for the Jamboree and the other summer rides to start!!

We should have a blast. It's a shame you have to stay in a hotel, alot of fun occurs at night at camp.

Thanks for the reply. Iknow that you're right
about the benefits of staying in camp at night but a fellow can only push his luck so far.

Hello all,
I've been looking forward to this run for quite some time, and my family and I are very excited about attending! The ATTEX contingent will be well represented with at least 2, possibly 3 machines attending in our convoy alone. My parents, who used to be active in NATVA racing are looking forward to attending. I only wish that the opportunity to have sanctioned racing would arise again. With all the people there this July, perhaps some interest will be sparked. (?) Looking forward to meeting you all!

~mike

Add 2 more Attex's to the list of machines. Both of them will be wearing "for sale" signs on them. My wife agreed to come with me also.

Hey, Mike T.;

Just look under the 'events' section of this site and it gives most of the details and the address.

I should be able to attend with at least a couple more vintage Attex from the sunny south!

The date is getting closer! I would love to try to make it down on Thursday, but it looks like Friday will have to suffice. Time to get everything cleaned, tightened, greased and aired up. The Attex(es) will be in prime shape to blaze through the trails! Can't wait to see who/ what shows up!

I attended the Dice Run at Copper Ridge last weekend and and have some good things to pass on:
Greg has bulldozed the entire trail, eliminating most of the bigger ruts that caused some folks problems. When a freshly dozed trail gets some rain, can you spell slime? Slime=fun!
He has also added over three miles of new trail to the course, bringing it up to 19.5 miles.
The trail is sort of a figure-eight, with all of the really big hills on one loop, and the milder hills on the other. No one should be afraid to ride here.
Make sure that your brake system(and your ability to operate it ) is in good working order since Copper Ridge contains many, many significant grades.
There is a huge pile of wood just waiting for a bonfire, bring your marshmallows and a v-e-r-y long stick.
Weather permitting, Greg was going to attempt to clear out a nice grassy, shady area for us to camp. Even if he can't we will all be camped together instead of split up like other years.
The new price structure should help offset the extra cost of getting there this year.
Bring on the friday night ride!!!!

I am happy to report that we had soaking rain all day today here in western NY and we are expecting more of the same for thursday. Why would anyone be happy about that, you ask. Well that means that there will be plenty of mud for this weekends ride at Copper Ridge. The local forecast is for a cooler weekend (70s) and a chance of more rain sunday. Bring your rubber boots!

I had another great weekend at Copper Ridge this year. It was very nice to see old friends and meet new ones. I'm sure everyone had a great time. With all the rain we've had, there was alot of mud for everyone. The new trails were great. The hills, well all i can say is "WOW".
I want to thank Greg Thorpp and John Lockwood for having us back this year. We had a better turn out this year, but still need to have some of the old Humphery people back to make this a great ride.
Greg is having us back in 2005 so lets see if we can get back to around 100/125 machines. The Date's are July 15th,16th,&17th. I'm almost packed and ready to go.

Larry said it very well, one word Wow! Another great weekend at Copper Ridge. One thing that was great about this last weekend, besides the great weather and terrific trails, was the atmosphere of fun that prevailed all weekend. There was always people laughing in the background and often all around. We had as few breakdowns as I can ever remember for a group this large, although out two-stroke freinds seemed to struggle a bit on the trails.
Also as Larry said, tell your freinds what you liked about the event so that we can get the attendance up for next year. Tell US what you did not like about the event so that we can try to correct it before next year.
We would like everyones opinion about the Jamboree, pro or con. If you didn't go tell us why
and vice versa. We want this event to keep getting better. More to come. I will let you know when the video is done.

Greg,
Wanted to personally say thank you again for a wonderful time. I also wanted to apologize for heading up the hill to your brother’s house, (on Saturday evening) however it was to turn around and not to drag race on the air strip. (lol)
I also wanted to compliment your personal family staff as they were all helpful and fantastic.

As a beginner and still a bit of a novice I found the trails very challenging, especially the “DOWN HILLS”.

I have a suggestion, to have a few trails that are not as challenging for us beginners and those who are just starting out. This would enable a larger audience to take advantage of 6 wheeling at a more comfortable level.

Thank for listing.

Irene and I are home, safe and sound. Return trip to Canada, was good, but it took all day. We had a great time. The people at this event were all great fun to be with. Greg, from Copper Ridge did an amazing job making those trails. If it were not for the machines in front of us, we would never have believed that our machine could go down a hill that steep with us still in it! Jim won the water race fair and square but I am so proud of my second place trophy and my wife and I are eternally grateful to him for leading us and three other machines, out of the woods when we got lost on the saturday night ride. Irene and Warren (philip).

I was the one that won the water race and led some of the people out of the woods on the night ride and it should be explained that it is part of the night ride to get separated from everybody else. The weather was great and the people were great and the trails were great. Every bit as good as Humphry if not better. We need more people next year so get the dates posted as soon as possible so everyone can plan ahead.

snip>>
although out two-stroke freinds seemed to struggle a bit on the trails. >>

My family and I had a wonderful time at the event, and hope to be back in equal or greater numbers last year! Granted, two-stroke trail machines are a different breed of AATV, and don't lend themselves to idling along at slow speeds through the wonderful maze of trails at Copper Ridge. However, as a bit of a testament to the vintage vehicles, which were WELL represented at this year's meet, one gentleman brought in a 32 year old machine on a trailer, somewhat in pieces, and had the machine running the trails at a blazing speed in no time. We fellow two-strokers went out on a few less-technical/ more speed-intensive runs through the hills while the stump-puller crowd was chugging through the woods with equal gusto.

I was very impressed with the water-crossing competition, and the ability of the beautiful Max IVs (and others!) It shows how both schools have sturdy followings, and how much larger these events could become. Let's hope next year is even bigger and better!

~mike

Tim- Next years event is already in the planning stage. It will take place July 16+17 2005. I could not believe your water speed! Next year you may be pulling a water skiing competition at Copper Ridge. Wait until you see yourself on the video.
The video is completed and I am now in the duplicating process. Mailing will begin friday before I head out to the Ledges ride. I will have some extra copies with me for those who would like one.
I also have about a dozen Copper Ridge Jamboree tee shirts that were left over. Contact me at jsschwab@localnet.com should you desire one. They are $12 +$2 to ship. I will have some with me at Ledges also. To say the shirts are stunning is an understatement. I was wearing mine at MacDonalds on the way home and a supermodel tried to pick me up! She said it was the shirt....

Speaking of struggling 2 strokes on the trail...My wife and I had some difficulty due to a fuel cap that was not vented. It took a while to figure out because it would run great for 20-45 minutes and work well on the flat , but when we came to a hill it wouldn't do it. another thing we discovered was to ride towards the front of the line where they drive alot faster.
