This Dad just got custody of my son and was given a free Amphicat-model #500079. After the attorneys, this Dad is poor so I would greatly appreciate any help so that I can make my son's dreams come true. He was severely abused as is he a special needs child with many disabilties. He just turned 12. We live in rural central Maine.
I have taken everything out and cleaned it up. The body is already taking shape. I-*I'am trying to locate a sheet of abs but can't locate a source. Any idea's? II-*The transmission is the same as seen in the pictures within this site.

The first problem is that the transmission is in pieces but all the parts are present. I have no diagram of where or how they go back together. I don't know the torque requirements or other important assembly facts. Likewise, I don't know what the tolerance's should be of any key components. The second problem is that the ( ? ) (output gear shaft?) where the spocket attaches to this shaft is cracked off. How or where can I purchase a used one? Who is the mfg. and what model is this transmission? Lastly on the transmission, the brake band or some lining is falling half off, can I somehow glue this back on? How thick should it be. Can I glue a new lining back on?

The motor is a rotax twin 440 with -0- hours since being rebuilt by the former owners. Is this adequate horsepower?

The drive axles and tires are my last problem. I only have 2 of them. Any idea's on this or where can I purchase used axles. The tires are another problem. I can't find replacement floatation tires. I already called Firestone and BF Goodridge but they don't make them anymore. I want to put atv tires on that came with them but they aren't floatation tires. Any idea's?

I would be greatly appreciated of anyone assistance in trying to help solve my issues. I welcome any idea's or solutions, advice or assistance you can offer to make my son's dream come true. I can't afford to buy a used 6x6 so I must fix this up somehow. Again, thank you so much in advance.

Doug, as far as abs, contact David Berger on this site, look under owner registry. As far as parts, I would start with Richard Clark on this same site. Others reading this may have parts to offer.

John, in your profile you have a pic of a Terra Tiger. One thing I notice is that the tires are spaced out very far apart. Does this ever create problems in the bush?? I know in the ARGO they are closer and as a result, I don't get hung up on logs. Do you get hung up on them easy??

Doug, try searching the net for tires. You can find cheap tires all over the place. Goodyear runnamucks, rawhide 1,2,3, and their are many others. Just have to make sure that the size is right. I don't know if this is even an option that would work but try contacting the manufactorers of these amphibs and see if they have any old axles and parts. ODG made the trany for these amphicats years ago, I doubt they would have parts, but you could try and get them to point you in the right direction. I wish you and your son luck! -- Although this is a farfetched idea, try junkyards. It may prove to do some good.
