I am (finally)in the process of starting to put a Hustler back together. Are all the axles identical? I was looking at the axles and noticed that two are different from the other four. I did not mark which axles came from where. On the four axles, the inner shouldered part is 1 3/8 long and .985 diameter, but the other two it is one inch long and one inch in diameter. Also the inner bearings I bought would not fit those two axles. Should i have those two axles turned to the same dimensions as the others?
Another question, how much can axles be bent before they have to be replaced. One is about 1/8 out at the end, not very noticeable, but one is off 3/8, and I could see it was bent without a straight edge. Can I put them on a press and try to straighten them out?

BENT AXLES I CAN HELP WITH, YES A PRESS WILL WORK WELL FOR YOU, BEND A LITTL MOR THAN STRATE AND WHEN YOU LET OFF THE PRESHER IT'L SPRING BACK SOME.
YOU CAN ROTATE THE AXEL WHILE IN THE PRESS AND WITH PRESS ALMOST TOUTCHING AXLE TO CHECK ON STRATNES, HELPS TO FIND THE SPOT TO ALPY PRESHER AGAIN IF NESSESARY.
OLSO I ROLL THEM ALONG EDGE OF STEAL TABLE TO CHECK STRATNESS,

I just trued up my left front axel. If you have access to a press and a dial indicator, it's very easy to do. Set the axel in v shaped blocks if you can. Put the dial indicator below the axel set as long as possible. Turn the axel until you see the high spot. Put pressure on the press and watch your gauge. Start small and turn the axel between every press in case the bend changes. The dial indicator will find the true center of the bend and also tell you how much bend your pressing out of the shaft. I didn't think my bend was very much, but I could tell the ride was a little smoother. Good Luck, Cliff
