I was just surfing the web's classifieds and came across this ATTEX for sale. It looks like a good deal for an older AATV. Just letting the ATTEX owners know of what I found out there.

Me and my son just traded a susuki 125 atv for a 1975 ATTEX 400 chief. Its in good condition with a rebuilt jlo 440 super chief motor.I cannot belive how much fun it is to drive! We love the looks it gets.I work in a bodyshop so its going to be ticked out with some wild colors.Looking for some new or used parts.Engine cover pretty sad shape.Any help from ATTEX owners would be greatly apreciated.Glad we cam across this site.

I just bought an ATTEX 295 Wild Wolf.I know very little about ATTEX vehiceles and would like to find out more.Anybody know of any sites with some good info on this model?

i just purchased two attex's, but i'm not sure if they are 252's or 400's. can someone tell me how to tell the differance? also did attex make a front hood repair clip? it appears my one machine has been repaired with a replacement clip that looks like a 400. would a 400 frontend fit on a 252? if so, that might be what i have.

I'm looking for a rollbar, windshield & a cnavs top for an Attex 295. If somebody has one & can throw a sketch together witha few dimensions I'm sure I could make one up. I'm more curios on how tall the windshiled should be & how does it fold or lock in place?

Has anybody added tracks to their Attex without the need for axle extensions? If so, what size wheel and what make of track worked?

After looking at my 252 & 295 I don't see how you could add tracks without hitting the muffler. If you add extensions aren't you just asking to bend an axle? I have been trying all different kind of cockamamie ideas for s set of tracks. But without massive extensions I'd think I'd wipe out my muffler. Did Attex offer tracks on 252 & 295's?

I bought a Attex 3 or 4 years ago that had tracks on it what they had done is moved the muffler to the back and put much smaller tires on like a riding mower type tire, i don't remeber the size, was not a very clean job it now had a muffler hanging off the back and a 6" hole in the side where the muffler was, it had a set of plastic Argo tracks.

I just picked up an Attex and don't know how to tell what model it is. It has a 482 Chapperal (sp) engine. Single bench seat. Can anyone tell me what I have? I hope it is a super chief!

I need a throttle cable for it and chain tension guide wear material. Any direction on where to go for that sort of stuff would help also.

Probably a super chief. If you need manuals for those richard has them for sale on this site. The super chief had around 500cc two stroke two cylinder engines in them. And oh btw they are fast I have a wild wolf with a 440 and it hauls!

You have a SuperChief! I have one also in army green. The chapparell engine should have a single Mikuni Carburetor. It should also have an enrichner instead of a choke. Both Cables can be purchased from the Mini Max People. You can get their phone number from the web site at:

I have an Attex 500 Superchief also. Mine has the older 484cc G50B. What a great machine. I found it sitting out in a field and was able to buy it for a good price. I had the whole machine completely apart to fix the years of abuse and neglect. It's all back together now and runs great. I redid the carb but always have to cup my hand over the carb to get it started at first. I tried to adjust the new choke cable but no matter wich way I turn it doesn't seem to make a difference after the engine warms up. I'd like to find a windshield and top for it. I'm also kicking around the idea of adding a solar trickle charger from ICP Global Technologies (no more dead batteries). Also thinking of a clinometer and hourmeter. I really like the design of the Attex. It's just too bad they aren't still in production.

Rebuild the old one! The two cylinder two strokes are hard to beat and easy to maintain. If you put a 4 stroke in it it would be noticeably slower.

To add tracks to the Attex you must get the rear muffler kit. I don't know who sells them but I hear they are costly. I spoke with a spokesman from Tru Tracs and he told me that he has sold several sets of tracks for Attex machines. The only problem is the tracks will only fit if you use the original 3 bolt flotation tires (the tires that are no longer in production, or you can also use Goodyear Rawhide II 21x11x8 tires. If you have the side discharge muffler I would not recommend moving the muffler like the other reader said, there will be a large whole on the machine you cannot plug...Kemp

Listen to Pete6x6 (a seasoned Attex owner). IF you can rebuild the 2 stroke do it. The machine you have will easily go 45MPH with Goodyear Rawhide III tires. Plus that machine will go through just about anything if you rebuild the motor. The only disadvantage to the 2 stroke is that they lack low end torque. But if you can go through almost anything and go 45MPH who cares about torque rite? Call Richard he can help you with getting parts for that motor..good luck........Kemp

who says you cant plug a hole left by removal of the muffler? if it's an older modle with abs bodie you can fix the hole with the liquid abs goo mentioned in restoring attex bodies and restoring amphacat bodies posts, i rebilt the entire bay for a muffler on my friends shaperal, it held up fine and thats with the mufeler in there!!

Thanks for the compliment :). As far as plugging the hole up there are about 6 bolt holes around the circle opening just get a circle of abs, a few bolts and bolt it in place. In fact this is the way Attex plugged up that hole in the factory when the side muffler was not used.

What then? When the side muffler is not used, where is the muffler mounted? I would like to put tracks on my superchief but -- where would the muffler be moved too and what type of muffler would one use?

The muffler is moved to the back of the machine and you drill a hole for the muffler. Call Richard he has a number of someone who sells the kit. If it were me, I would move the muffler to the inside of the lower tub, and vent the muffler out the back though the top. There is already holes in the top of the machine for air so I would use those instead of cutting the lower body. .....Kemp

Be advised you can only run tracks with the factory firestone flotation tires or Goodyear rawhide I tires 21x11x8...Kemp
