Has anyone herd of a Sidewinder?

Route 6x6 Discussion Board: Restoration of older ATV's: Has anyone herd of a Sidewinder?

I recently picked up a 6x6 that has what appear to be stickers on the front and sides that say sidewinder. It's hard to tell if they are stickers or stamped on the plastic, its been painted several times. It has an 18hp brigs and I think a Skid Steer trans. It's got a Comet clutch (maybe a torque converter). The motor is in the back and it seats 4. Any help would be great.

we scrambler people always have this sidewinder/scrambler conversation, richard burly and i talk about this some, but i dont think anyone has done a side by side comparison.check out the museum page on this site for both.see what you think.they sure look like the same six wheelers to me.

Mike, thanks for the reply. I checked out the photos and you are right they both look a lot alike. However, while both bodies are similar to mine the lights are different, and I have sticks instead of a steering wheel. Could they have offered different options, like a cheap one and a more expensive one? Thanks for the info. Also do you have any good places to get parts, or maintence manuals?

6x6 Friends:

SCRAMBLERS and SIDEWINDERS are not the same machine, in fact there is NO connection between the two.

SIDEWINDERS were build by a man I know, some of the parts were CHAPARRAL.

Most SIDEWINDERS were nice machines in the upper price range. All true SIDEWINDERS had a T-20 trans.

It is possible that someone just put the name SIDEWINDER on another machine.

Hope this helps

Richard, thanks for the reply. I checked and mine does have the T-20. Are there any repair or service manuals or schematics of these. Do they use dexron mercon III automatic trans. fluid?
