Hello, I was driving home from the Fall Nationals Drag race championship a couple of weeks ago and while I was taking some back roads, I stumbled across an odd-looking ATV for sale. I stopped and spoke with the person who owns it. He told me it was an Argo, he had purchased it from Exxon/Mobil after it had been used to transport workers in to the sticks while laying a pipeline. By the way, he works for Exxon/Mobil.

Being an owner of a slightly radical Jeep Wrangler I was intrigued with this machine he had for sale. He told me he had just replaced all wheel and axle bearings, three chains, all 8 (Eight) tires, new brakes, and replaced the small motorcycle type battery with a marine grade battery. He has owned it for 3 years after it was in storage by Exxon for seven years. He has only used it a few times deer hunting etc. Anyway to make a long story short it shows 218 hours on the meter and it looks like new with the exception of a wooden hood he fabricated after allowing the original to blow off while trailoring down the interstate. The Argo is a 1990 model, 8 wheeler with an 18HP Kohler gasoline engine. Headlights and instruments work and everything is intact including a front mounted wench. I can purchase the Argo for $3000.00

My question is obvious, what is it worth given the description I have given, and living in Central Texas there is more rocky creek beds etc than mud so is this a good vehicle for this type of terrain. I enjoy mudding etc in my Jeep but this Argo seems to be to ultimate mud toy and has to be a blast.

One last question; does these types of ATVs come with certificates of titles such as a quad or M/C?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

A Magnum 8 in good condition can sell for that much without a problem. I personally would try to go for about $2500.00 just to see.
The hood missing is a common problem. if it is not secured it'll be gone in a flash. Replacement hoods are hard to come by.
I am not sure about in Texas but in PA I had to have my machine registered. If I did not have an original title they would have taken the Serial number info and gotten me a new title. I had a 73 Argo that got a new title (as an original never existed) the manufacture year then said 2000.
