Living in NY, I'd like to add a snowplow to my Max. The Recreatives plow is way too expensive, but there are lots of $299-$350 plows for ATV's. Anyone have any success with adding one of these to your Max? Any words of advice on how to do this?

hello Chris i have added a blade made my own hook up and all the only thing was it was to short had to add lent to it i was lucky to find a blank at a surplus store that is close to me I'm also redoing the mounting brackets that are on the Max i made so yes it can be done u would be better off finding a used one other than buying a new one you must cut up to make it work

Chris
Last fall my riding partner and I built PLOWS AND A DETACHABLE MOUNTING BRACKET for both his Max2 and my ARGO Vanguard. Check out the classified section of this site and look for a picture of his Max 2 with an orange plow.

BOTH plows work great ... but ... I can push a hell of a lot more snow with my Argo than he can with his Max 2. Costs depend on how handy you are and if you have access to a welder.

FYI: I'm sure you realize that a steel mount will be stronger than aluminium ... but ... it also adds a lot more weight to the front end ...!

CAUTION: IF you live anywhere near Buffalo ... I would't be planning on pushing that deep snow ... if your Max is a Max 2 with a 14 HP engine in it.

Guys, thanks for the input. Maybe a local welder can help me out.

JT: My Max is a Max Buffalo Truck, only a 20HP engine, but I believe it's geared lower than normal. It revs much higher than a friends Max4 to achieve the same speeds, but I seem to be able to pull more and work harder than the Max 4. I'm thinking I've got that extra power via lower gearing. It's a workhorse, that's what it's for so I'm good with it. I live near Buffalo, but as long as I keep up with the snow, it should do just fine. (Ok, sometimes I'd have to shovel and snow blow, but most of the time the plow should work).

Anyone have a design for a good plow mount I can share with a local welder?
