THE MAX II IS A GREAT MACHINE, BUT ONE AREA OF IMPROVEMENT COULD BE THE THROTTLE LEVER. THE ORIGINAL IS MADE OUT OF ALL PLASTIC COMPONENTS AND CAN BREAK APART AT A MOMENTS NOTICE. MINE CAME APART WHEN I WAS ABOUT FIVE MILES FROM MY STARTING POINT ONE DAY, MY GERBER MULTI-TOOL SAVED THE DAY AND GOT ME BACK. I CALLED RECREATIVES AND WAS TOLD THAT A NEW AND IMPROVED METAL THROTTLE LEVER WAS IN THE WORKS BUT NOT YET AVAILABLE. I DIDN'T WANT TO REPLACE IT WITH THE SAME REPLACEMENT PART SO I DID SOME INVESTIGATING AND FOUND THAT THE THROTTLE LEVER ON A KAWASAKI WAVE RUNNER WOULD FIT THE MAX II AND THE DESIGN AND QUALITY WAS WAY BETTER. I ORDERED THE PART FROM MY LOCAL KAWASAKI DEALER WHICH IS PART NUMBER 39074-3725 (LEVER-ASSY-THROTTLE) FOR A WAVE RUNNER AND INSTALLED IT ON THE MAX. THE ONLY MODIFICATION WAS A LITTLE FILING WORK ON THE CABLE END NUB TO FIT IN THE THROTTLE HANDLE, OTHERWISE IT WORKS FANTASTIC. THE COST WAS ABOUT $65.00 FOR THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY. NOW WHEN I DRIVE THE MAX II IN THE WATER, I CAN SQUEEZE THE THROTTLE LEVER, CLOSE MY EYES FOR A MOMENT AND PRETEND THAT I'M BLASTING OVER THE WAVES IN MY MAX JUST LIKE A WAVE RUNNER-----JUST ABOUT 60MPH SLOWER!!!

Larry - Your message was a great posting. You identified a problem with one of the AATVs, gave information from the manufacturer, and provided an alternative solution. I have the same problem with my MAX II and at the moment the proverbial duct tape has been the solution, as the plastic parts break far too easily. Thanks for providing the part number and thanks for having a good sense of humor on the subject. More postings like yours is what we need.

Larry, I've had the same problem with the throttle lever on my Max IV. Do you know if all Max models use the same throttle set up?

To Larry: Thanks for the post. My throttle also broke and I wanted to replace it with something more durable. You saved me and others some research.

DAN H. AND JOHN S.: THANKS FOR THE THANKS ON MY POST OF THE MAX THROTTLE ASSEMBLY, GLAD I COULD HELP YOU OUT. TOM R.: I'M SURE THAT THE LEVERS IN THE MAX IV ARE THE SAME DIAMETER, MAX II'S ARE AROUND 7/8" DIAMETER, YOU COULD CALL RECREATIVES TO BE SURE. DAVID B.:SOUNDS LIKE ANOTHER GOOD TIP ON A FIX FOR A MAX THROTTLE.
ON ANOTHER NOTE, CHECK OUT THE "HOW TO" SECTION ON THE ROUTE 6X6 WEB SITE AND SCROLL DOWN AND LOOK AT THE MAX II ATV LIFT PICTURES AND PLANS THAT I SENT TO RICHARD. THIS LIFT SURE MAKES IT EASY TO WORK ON YOUR MAX II AND COULD BE MODIFIED TO WORK FOR ALMOST ANY AATV. ITS ALSO INEXPENSIVE TO MAKE, UNLIKE ANYTHING ELSE TO DO WITH THIS AATV HOBBY/SPORT WE GOT OURSELVES INTO. GOTTA LOVE IT, YA KNOW!!!!
