I'm seriously considering a set also for my Max II. Looks like the snow is done for the year here in New York. But I would like to get some tracks on it before next winter.

What I have been told, they don't last that long. They are built cheap. Also, if you don't get the third bearing kit from RI, you will waste your bearings on the max.

Not true. The Tru-Trax are very heavy duty and well built. I have a set (that I bought used) on my Argo Bigfoot and have never had a problem. The only drawback is that they really sap the horsepower from my machine. Another thing: if you dont plan on much ice crawling, don't get the cleats. The cleats caused my machine to dig itself into to snow and bottom out every time it started to slip a little. The object is to stay ON TOP of the snow.

Thanks for the input. It's good to hear the different opinions about the Tru-Trax product. Tim, the messege above yours mentioned the track system taxing the bearings. Have you had any problems with your bearings after using the Tru-Trax on your Argo? If I purchase a set, I plan to use them during the winter and on snow only.

Tim Iv'e got a Big Foot with the Argo supper tracks Which are about the same thing. On the advice of my dealer
I made snow cleats out of 1.5" x 1.5" angel and bolted on the out side of my tracks. What a difference. Took it out last week end in 3 foot of fresh powder that was pure sugar. No problem so you might give that a try. Tim

Scot,I have a set of tru-trax I bought for my max IV and they will stress your axels and rub on vehicles body, if your max is pre year 2000.I have had my tracks 1 year and only used them twice, resulting in a broken axel and damage to my body fom rubbing, it was a $1400 investment with wheel extentions and all.Now they sit in my garage as tru trax will not stand behind their product,fine for other machines maybe, but not the max.

I have Tru-trax on my 91 Max IV. I had to build idlers out of lawn mower wheels to keep them away from the bottom of the body. I have had it in about 2' of powder snow and it works fine as long as you don't try to go up much of a hill. They really take a lot of power and I am trying to figure out how to lower the gear ratio since I run out of power long before I run out of traction even with 20 hp Kohler. I have solid axels but don't have the bearing cages and haven't had any problems with axels or bearings yet. I have probably put about 40 miles on them. The tracks seem to be holding up fine. What about the Tru-trax that failed? I have had them for four years with about 30 hours on them. Not a single problem. I am in no way connected with Tru-Trax, just concerned about the the statement "as tru trax will not stand behind their product".
