Brian,
You sure do need a fuel pump. You just hook a gas line to an air hole in the back of the motor below the carb. There is actually a place to mount the fuel pump to the left of the air filter on the body. Definately put a pump ball in the fuel line between the gas tank and the fuel pump. That will save you tons of time in case you accidently push in the fuel shutoff valve and suck the lines dry. Good luck!
