I am considering installing a bilge pump in my
superchief, does anyone have any recomendations?
where to purchase, what kind is best, how & where
to install in the machine? thanks in advan

since i've not seen an attex, i'd recommend getting in the water with what would be a typical load. then note the attitude of the machine, ie does the rear sit lower, the front, does it lean to the right, the left. place the pump as close to that location as possible, a little trick we used to use in the old stand up jetski', was to fashion a bracket out of a peice of thin metal strap, and bolt it to anything that's close to the low point in the machine. then use a hose clamp to secure the bilge pump to it. rule pump's work good for this method of mounting, and are very dependable. as far as where to get it, try giving your business to a local independent marine dealer. if you don't have a marine dealer close, wal-mart usually has them. i've got two rule 500 gph pump's i'm putting in my trailboss.

Do your machines still have the hood latch assemble? If you do, could you grab a photo of it and email it to me? My Superchief in missing the prop rod assemble and I don't know what it is suppose to look like to build a replacement.

if everything is right on the machine, you probably don't even need one. but when it comes to water vehicles, i tend to lean toward massive overkill when it comes to bilge pump's. and batteries for that matter. i had a $20,000+ race ski go down once, because i was trying to save weight. i was using duck bill flapper's instead of a bilge pump, when it was all said and done, that little stunt costed me about $4000.00. after that, all my boat's got 2 500 gph pump's. as for cost, i haven't purchased one for along time, the 2 i'm putting in the boss are spares i had. i'd think less than 20.00 a peice though, hose is usually around .75-1.00 @ ft, outlet's should be less than $5.00 each. i'd think $75.00 should cover a 2 pump system.

I installed a bilge pump in my attex. I was a 400 chief but now I call it a 570 chief due to the new 18hp.(570cc) briggs vanguard engine I put in it. I put 1 500gph pump and mounted it on the left side of the inside frame. Right across from the front drive chain adjuster. Made a mounting plate out of steel and used a existing hole already drilled in frame to bolt to. Then routed the hose up and over the frame and downunder the brake rod and through a hole I drilled in the front frame channel. Then up under the dash and cut a hole out of upper body to accept the outlet and then hooked hole up. I wired my pump direct to the battery and bought a switch and installed in dash. I recommend a lighted switch so you know when its on so you don't run pump dry!!! Every easy installation witha total cost of $50.00. Contact your local marine shop for parts. Good luck Greg Lucas

I installed a bilg pump on my Attex 400 Chief. I placed the pump on the passenger side opposite the clutch. The clutch is in the way on the driver's side. I used some 8 guage sheet metal to make a bracket. I mounted the bilg pump in the rear of the machine about 10" from the drain hole. The reason I did this is because the Attex is heavier in the rear when floating and the front of the machine comes up during acceleration. I routed the hose out the back and drilled a hole through the top of the body not the bottom. I wired the pump to a toggle switch located by the ignition switch. The pump I purchased came from Cabela's and is rated at 350 GPH. The pump cost $14 and I bought the discharge hose kit for $6. Total cost with toggle switch $22.50. The pump has been in the machine for a year and no problems yet...Kemp
