Is there a procedure to follow that allows installation of a new drive belt that does not require moving either motor or transmission? Very new to this. Just bought very used Hustler and trying to learn. Thanks

Further to my request, I have discovered the drive clutch/pulley is locked in the "extended" position, i.e., the position typically it is in when the motor is at high RPM. This is not right, I don't think. Any suggestions?

Thanks

SHURE I HAVE BROKEN MY SHARE OF BELTS,THIS HAPENS NOW AND THEN,JUST PRY THEM APART WITH A COUPLE OF TIRE IRONS,GET SOME HELP FROM A FRIENDAND PRY OPOSITE SIDES, BE CAIRFULL!! THAY PRY OPEN JUST SO FAR AND THEN SNAP OPEN VIOLENTLY SO WATCH YOUR FINGERS AND TRY NOT TO MAR UP THE PULLY TOO MUTCH---BE CAREFUL--DON'T LOOSE YOUR FINGERS, BELT SHOULD GO ON WITHOUT TO MANY PROBLEMS,LOOP OVER ENGINE PULLY(driving) then work it on (driven pully) good luck

Thanks. All is well and back in business. The current belt is Salsbury 704084. May be a bit too long. What is correct for Hustler 980 (18 HP B&S).
