Ok so i pick up the max, and put it on the trailer backwards.. come 50 miles or so and as im turning off the feeder road of I-10 and start accelerating, the strap breaks and the max comes off the trailer nose first. the front tires hit the pavement and the rest is history. The thing bounced a few times then started rolling backwards then came to a stop. The thing was in gear when it bounced off the trailer. Is being in gear then rolling going to hurt anything in the transmission? It acts like the shifter still moves forward and back, but i never shifted on before. So we put it back on the trailer and strapped it down quite a bit more. It rolls fine and there was no visible damage. I just dont know how the thing is supposed to shift. I havent even ran it as it needs a battery and carb job to begin with from it sitting for 3 years. Would it have popped out of gear when it hit or can damage result from this sort of thing? broke my new toy on the way home! arrgh?

no, you should be good- these things take a hell of a lot more beating than just falling out of a trailer before they have damage. Many take years and years of use and abuse and they still work fine even without maintnence ( i can't spell today) just don't expect they to last as long as they could. I hit a rock a few years ago and nailed the right front wheel, made the entire thing jump but no damage at all, bent the rim up a bit, got back to the cottage and grabbed the needle nose pliers and bent it back into shape.
