Is it all right to use kerosene to clean the gunk out of the inside of an abs body? It works great on the metal parts but I want to be cautious before dabbing it on the abs. What does everybody use to clean the grease and junk out of the inside?

I THINK IT'L BE OK FOR A SHORT TIME TO DISOLVE THE GREASE ECT..ECT..
SO LONG AS YOUR GOING TO WIPE IT OUT AGAIN WITH A RAG, OR PREHAPS WIRE BRUSH IT AND THEN USE AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE GLEANER TO CLEAN THE KEROSINE OUT AND PRESURE WASH IT WITH HOSE TO CLEAN ALL THE CHEMICALS OUT,
JUST DON'T LEAVE IT SITTING THERE WITH THE SOLVENT IN IT.

I don't think kerosene will hurt your ABS body. Lord knows there has been alot of gasoline and 2 stroke oil in the hull of my machines.
I just bought an electric pressure washer from Home Depot and it works great to clean everything. Another of my favorites is Simple Green and a toilet bowl brush. Just make sure the brush is firmly attatched to the handle. They bend around and are able to get places any other brush won't touch.

i take mine to the car wash to tell you the truth i dont even know what the body is it's a 1975 Rim all i know befor i go i spay it down with engine gunk looks like new after it comes home been doing for years never hurt it yet

Here is a link to the plumbing piping and fitting association who have a list of chemical resistance of abs. Kerosene makes the ok at lower temps. Be careful in choosing an engine degreaser, there are a lot of unsatisfactory ingredients on this list which I found listed on the cans at the local auto parts store.

And after cutting my hands on the sprockets numerous times I am getting some stiff toilet brushes to complete this chore! Thanks for all the tips.
