I am looking at a 1994 model and would like to know what to look for and possible fixes. The owner is selling as is, the unit runs, the engine is great but he has had some nagging problems:
- the charging system is not recharging the battery as it is not putting out enough amp
- the tires are forever going flat (I figure I would replace all tire and rims anyway)
- he has a 6 wheel track that he runs on it leaving the last set un-tracked. It works fine but is there any undo stress being put on the 3rd set of wheels (i.e. do the front and rear set have stronger axle/bearings to take the extra load)?
- my strategy would be to pick it up, and then have the drive train overhauled, new rims and tires put on her, and the charing system fixed. I figure if all of this costs me $2k Cdn$ then I am still way ahead.
Thanks

just plan to pick up the factory altenator kit and forget your charging system troubles

Len
I had a charging system problem last year. After pricing out the possible problems, I decided to get an alternator kit. Problem solved, more electrical power and spent the same money as repairing the engine's chargeing system. Not to mention considerably less headache.

Len- I am almost 90 % sure its the regulator thats blown. Mine did the same thing. After replacing the fuse, rewiring the charging system we finally concluded that it was the regulator and when we changed it, it worked perfectly. Call Ron Bass at ODG and ask him about it. Those MAGNUMs had charging system problems and you just install a new regulator and you should be back in business. Call me if you want more info on that charging system and I can tell you exactly what we did to get ours running again. 416-233-8023 (after 8:30pm is best or call my cell- (647)223 8511 Its been 4 years since and i only have had to jump start it once- left the lights on one night!
