I just picked up this older model maxII(early 70"s).It has the JLO twin in it but i am sure it is not original.the belt that is on it is to wide and two short and the engine is as far foward as i can go.i put it into gear and it takes off and when i stop it stalls the engine.the one that is on it is a dayco 1118.can anyone recomend a correct size to use and perhaps a part number so that i can try to find one locally.any help would be great..

Brian, why don't you tell us where you found it and what the number is? That way, the next person that needs help will have the answer.

hey brian: remember to use special constructed VARIABLE SPEED BELT.....heat created by friction on regular variable speed operation simple destroy regular made pulley belts......sure..regular belt can work but is going to get skinny (narrow)easily and you soon will notice excesive slipage on the system...and..if you continue using the system with narrow belt you will get the chance to destroy the clutch ( pulley located at engine side).....the right belt number will be 46v1922..that number means the follow

46 ......46 inches long
v .......variable speed belt
19...... 19/16 of an inch
22......22 degree on edges

you should payd at least double that regular belt...but is the right stuff to go!!!......
