Lubricating the middle axle, passenger side on a Max II

I finally found the flipping zerk for the inner bearing on the middle passenger side axle; thank goodness that it is angled back a bit on my 2003 Max. It took me nearly an hour to figure out how to access it, which I only did after removing the battery and locating the zerk with a flashlight beam shown from the front driver's side.

Tell me that there is an easier way to grease this fitting than contorting myself from the passenger side and working solely by "feel" under the side of the transmission. I hope that I had the fitting on all the way, since I do not know for sure that I got it on all the way...

if you can remove that grease fitting and it threads in pipe thread you can get some copper tubing and the proper fittings and run the tubing up to easier location with the grease fitting on the end of the tubing.

yes it'll work, i said this once before when will poeple start to listen??

it's simple to do and the only reason i think the factory doesn't do it is :
a litle extra cost, time, a little extra weight.

How about the inner left rear zerk one a Max II? I would settle for being able to lube that one!

Bud- Here is what I did on my MaxII. It is easy and cheap.Purchase a flexible hose just like the one on your grease gun. Install a grease fitting on the end. Snap in onto your fitting on your bearing.Route the hose out to where it is accessible. I attached mine to one of the upper transmission mount bolts with a hose bracket and a couple of zip ties.Voila! easy lubrication for about five bucks. You can do the same thing on the other middle inner bearing. An added bonus is that you can lube your bearings while they are turning and end up with the same number of fingers that you started with. As for that pesky left rear bearing,when you replace it someday be sure that you specify that you want the bearing for that position. The new part will have the zerk on the opposite side which then makes it a cinch to access.
