OK HERE WE GO. I WILL MAKE THIS AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE. THIS NEW YEARS WEEKEND I IN MY REPSONSE, MY FRIEND IN HIS CONQUEST, BOTH WITH STANDARD ARGO TRACKS. MY WIFE AND FRIENDS WIFE WERE BOTH IN THEIR OWN VANGARD 2, WITH TRU TRACKS,($970 EACH DELIVERED TO OUR DOOR). WE WERE IN A TRUE 4 FEET OF FRESH POWDER. THEY WENT EVERYWHERE WE DID. SOME HILLS THEY HAVE TO REALLY GIVE IT THE GAS TO GET UP IT, (THIS WAS AFTER THE 8x8 HAD ALREADY MADE A PATH. BUT ON FLAT LAND THEY DID BRAKE TRAIL IN THE DEEP SNOW JUST FINE. THE ARGO TRACKS HAVE 2 RAISED LIPS ON EACH LINK, LIKE A SMALL, LONG PADDLE. THE TRU TRAX DO NOT HAVE THIS, BUT THEY DO A 4 PRE DRILLED HOLES PER LINK, MAKING IT VERY EASY TO MOUNT EXTRA TRACTION DEVICES. I DO THINK THAT NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, A 6X6 WILL NOT PERFORM AS WELL AS AN 8X8 BECAUSE OF THE EXTRA 2 FEET OF TRACK. ITS LIKE COMPARING A LONG TRACK SNOWMOBILE TO A SHORT TRACK. I WOULD SAY THAT SO FAR THE TRU TRAX DID PERFORM WELL, AND WE WERE IN BOTH HARD PACK AND DEEP SNOW. I THINK THE ARGO TRACKS HAVE BETTER TRACTION AND ARE BEEFIER. BUT IS THAT WORTH THE EXTRA $630.
ONCEOOT.

Thanks much for the info... i have been considering tracks
for my new vanguard 2. Did you put wheel bearings on
your wife's VG2? I'm pretty new to the whole 6 wheeler
thing - some have told me that even tho the MFG
recommends them - i don't really need to put them on for
tracks... wondering what the common field thought is on it.

I'm also thinking of putting a more agressive tire on the
VG2 for when i'm not using tracks but am offroad... Got
stuck in a small partially iced creek last week - a bit more
agressive tire would've avoided the need to get the winch
going... (fortunately - a tree nearby suitable for anchoring)

Just out of curiosity, how long has tru trax been making tracks specifically for 6x6 or 8x8. I know they have made other systems, but how long just for our type of vehicles. The reason I ask is that the tracks my dad got for his first ARGO (over 23 years ago) are still in service to this day. Not a single part has been replaced, and they get a lot of use during the winter months when their is snow (with the exception of last winter because I wasn't there more than 2 days and their wasn't enough snow to put them on.) These things are almost indestructable and work very well. They only climbed off once and that was because I had way to little air im my tires and I was on the road where the snow was melted and the gravel road was comming through.

Andy -

Juist a thought on more agressive tires. I have found a couple places that ordinarily do not permit ATVs that allow my Argo mainly because the Runamucks are not agressive.
