need inner rear brngs for maxiv,is there an aftermarket # for them,without having them shipped ,would b alot easier to go to parts house

Mike, Just pull one out and take it to your bearing supplier. They will have something that will work.

HI GUYS, I'm in the process of going thru my 80 Max 1V and discovered something i'm not sure of. My left rear axle shaft sprocket is about 1/4 in. to the right of my primary tranny gear with the axle bolt installed. (about a sprocket width off) I assume this won't do the chain any good in the long run. How can the axle be moved back in to alignment? I plan to get a new set of axles from Richard in the spring so i'm just gonna run these axles til then or until they break. The holes are wallowed out pretty good on the shafts and axles. I just wanted to align these so I don't break a chain while in the middle of nowhere. Any ideas? Thans, Jim

Jim, You will need to loosen the lock collars both inside and out and slide the axle into position - then tighten lock collars and you should be good to go. There is a set screw in the lock collar. Loosen it and use a punch in the indention next to the set screw (don't use the set screw hole). Try tapping toward the back of the vehicle to loosen. It just moves a fraction of an inch to loosen and then gets tight again. If it doesn't loosen tapping toward the back, try tapping toward the front. The left rear is the hardest to work on and you should probably pull the engine to get to the inner bearing and lock collar.

FYI, someone at some point in time probably spun a donut and the left rear wheel hit something solid, forcing the axle to slip through the lock collars. or you have a broken lock collar or two. If you have a broken lock collar, I would suspect that your chains were too tight at some point in time or you picked something up in the chain. The old smaller bearing lock collar (which you have) was the weak link and it would snap before the master link of a 50 roller chain.

The alignment is set by the locking collars on the bearings. Unlock the axle from the bearings, align the sprockets and tighten the lock collars to the bearings and axle. done.

UNFORTUNATELY MY OUTER BEARING IS FROZEN TO THE AXLE. I KNOW I'M GONNA SCREW IT UP IF I HIT IT. I GOT EVERYTHING LOOSE BUT THAT. MANAGED TO MOVE THE SPROCKET OVER A LITTLE TO MAKE THE CHAIN MESH O.K. FIGURE I'LL JUST DRIVE IT TIL SOMETHING BREAKS. I'LL BE CHANGING THEM ALL OUT IN THE SPRING. THANX GUYS, JIM
