after close look on photo at "information bank" i found the follow "design errors" on max ll t-800:

a) COOLING AIR INTAKE PORT IS LOCATED OVER RIGHT REAR WHEEL ( A WRONG AREA WHEN YOU GET "WILD" ON NOMAN'S LAND VOYAGES)..AFTER ALL THATS THE KIND OF AMBIANCE WHERE MAX ARE BUILT FOR AH!!!..WELL PLENTY MUD-WATER SPLASH-DUST-IS GOING TO GET INSIDE MAX BODY AND CAN EASILY CLOG THE AMAZING KOHLER 20 H.P. COOLING FINS...

B) ALL MAX INTERNAL BODY WILL BE NOW "WINTERIZED" ( CONFORTABLE WARM ON COLDS DAYS..BUT WHAT ABOUT WHEN SUMMER ARIVES AH???)..THIS DESIGN MUST REQUEST AN OUTSIDE PORT THAT COVERS AND DIRECT HOT AIR FROM KOHLER ENGINE AND MUFFLER THRU INTERNAL EXAUST DIRECTLY TO OUTSIDE OF BODY..( THIS HOT AIR PORT CAN BE LOCATED WHERE "OLD" STYLE MUFFLERS WAS LOCATED.

THE "RIGHT" CHOICE WILL BE TO GET STANDARD "OPEN" COOLING AIR INTAKE SO THE COOLING ACTION OF THE KOHLER ENGINE ALSO CIRCULATE FRESH AIR ON MACHINERY ROOM..AND HOT AIR TO BE DIRECTED OUTSIDE OF BODY.

Yeah... You really know more than RI. They should have consulted you before they produced this machine. Have you given any advice to Dodge? They can use all the help they can get. RI tested the II-800 for 2 years. I have personally seen it at the last 2 MAXarama's in Michigan. There are none of the problems you think there are. By the way have you ever seen one? I have not only seen one but I have also driven one. It is incredibly smooth and has lots of power. The accelerator pump on the carb allow excellant throttle responce.

ANOTHER ISSUE:

THE ACTUAL SIZE OF HATCH MAKES HARD TO CHECK TRANSMISSION OIL LEVEL AND/OR BELT CONDITION/REPLACEMENT..NOT TO MENTION THAT WATER/DIRT CAN GO DIRECTLY OVER ENGINE..SOLUTION...BIGGER HATCH ( MAYBE THE SIZE OF THE WHOLE BACK FLOOR!!!)

hey bud: don't take me wrong...it's just common sense...i own an 295 max ll........same body shape....this cooling air intake area is located directly on the lower body where the tires action are........any intake air must be taken from the upper body.......about the 20 h.p kohler i have nothing wrong to mention...as a matter of fact is an excellent choice......i like max machines...that's the reason for me to take time and knowledge to make my opinion!!!!!!!!!to keep those machines better ( it's the first time that r.i. goes lower body to catch cooling air...and is a mistake!!!!!!!due to the kind of service that aatv performances...........bounce!!

On my MAX II I check the belt when I do my routine maintence while the body is up. The transmission on a MAX II is checked with the body up also. Have you ever actually seen a MAX II? It really sound like you are not qualified to make recomendations to anyone not even Huffy.

I currently own a 98 Max II 500T. As soon as RI anounces their spring rebate I am going to trade mine in for a new II-800 in Camo.

You should really look at a Max II 800T, not just the pictures. I just picked mine up last week. I love it. The air intake gets cooling air from the upper body vents on the right side of the vehicle. Not the lower body area. The hot air is ducted out through the left side upper body vents (including hot air from the muffler). Exhaust gas exits the rear of the lower body. If you leave your hatch cover on you don't get much crap on your engine. You should really do some research before you open you mouth.

hey kurt:

on your '98 max ll, WHEN YOU REMOVE THE ENGINE COVER you have enough space to check belt condition..even to replace it if fails on no man's land..but you cann't check or add atf/dextron fluid on t-20 tranny with out open the upper body...that's the reason for me to sugest a bigger hatch cover...( you suppose to improve design every time that you update a design ( that's call evolution!!!)....of course that i mention this since on mine ( first design)i can berely adjust carb or inspect spark plug trhu the "mini hatch"...and to "mess" with the upper body on noman's land ( you will notice that failures just happens when you don't need it!!!...on hard/heavy duties!!!) so if you can inspect//repair your max ll with out the need to "dismount" yourself on the wildness..you will apreciate the bigger hatch feature that i recomend!!!......keep bouncing!!!

kirt and bob like crap in there engine isac, thay will understand soon enophe, some things people have to lern on there own.
after thay loose some aluminum wingnuts because thay are loos, thay will break them tighting them too much and replace them with steal ones and just love tighting them till there eyes pop just so when thay get home from a ride thay will still have an uper body on the thing, well then thay wil apreshyate the engine cover idea you mention, yes i can see it now - somthing will need to be inspected, maybe a broken (cheezy)chain adjuster and require the whole upper to be opend on the trail and thay will seriosly concider tortching the thing first , though thay will protest this, you and i are not alone in knowing :
"THE DAY WILL COME"

hey ike, i agree, yer callin it like ya see it.
new changes don't always constitute improvements.

yanks were tha hardest on tha japanese products in tha 60's, 70's & 80's, they listened and look what happened.

honda bought 3 jiggers back in the 60's, they couldn't compete with the 240lb weight!
their version weighed in at over 550 plus, an they felt it wouldn't compete!, the tires made for it found themselves on tha atc 90, and that vehicle killed tha north american 6x6 market, right RC?.....hhmmm, by the way, how much does a argo/max weigh these days?

ANOTHER ISSUE TO TAKE CARE IS THE "CONTROL LEVEL" RELOCATION......MAX ll OFFER GREAT LEG ROOM BUT WITH ACTUAL "STICKS" LOCATION DRIVE WITH "BOUNCING CO-DRIVER" IS A MESS...I JUST RECEIVED PHOTO FROM '70 AMPHICAT FRAME ( THANKS DAVID3 BERGER//PLASTICMASTER)...THIS DESIGN SHOULD GO WITH NEXT MAX GERERATION ( BOTH ll AND iV!!)...AMPHICAT MOVE STICK'S BEARING FORWARD TO THE FRONT FRAME EDGE..STICKS MAKES A "LOOP" ( FOLLOW FUEL TANK'S SHAPE)....THIS DESIGN RESULT ON AN IRRESTRICTED LEG ROOM AREA.....LARGE "KIDS" WILL APRECIATE THIS FEATURE!!!!!!!
