Does anyone recommend/not recommend using Slime or a similar product in aatv tires? The local atv dealer recommends using it in all atv tires to seal small leaks and holes that might occur in the field.

I used it in one Max tire a few years ago. Running low or no pressure, it caused the tire to spin on the rim. It tore up the bead and I had to replace the tire. I won't be using that stuff in a 6x6 again.

jamie,
i ran it in my bigfoot, and it didn't help.i got a small piece hogwire in an old tire and it went pancake flat.the wire was about the size of an 8penny nail.if you are worried about flats,i suggest you carry a spare....or go to any auto parts store and get some tire plugs and the tools to install them.they will hold till you can get it fixed.(if the hole is not to big).

I also had poor results untill I pumped the pressure up to fix a pin hole leak. The intent of these products is to fix the small leaks as you ride but if it doesnt work with minimum pressure you are better off taking along a plug and a patch kit. You can even use multiple plugs to temporary repair a tire side wall gash to get you home.

i have been working on a two part tire welding compound that is the cat's meow. when it is finally perfected it will revive all those one piece floaters and demountable 2 ply rim protectors.
it will be offered though dave's aatv videos only.
