After following Troy around on the Deepwater rides, after he reams every mudhole with his Max4 with 26" Titans:) , I'm thinking about another set of wheels/tires and setting the runamucks aside for tracks.

The argo 8's have axles on 24" centers. I looked at 23-24 inch atv tires and found a few.. then read the specs on goodyear's rawhide III's at

http://www.goodyearatv.com/catalog/rawhide3size.html

my runamucks are 22.3" dia

rawhide 22x11-9 are 21.5 dia

rawhide 25x12-9 are 24.1 dia

I don't want to step down in diameter to the 22 rawhides, and was thinking of having the 25" (24.1")rawhides cut on the crown till they just cleared each other.. about 3/16 off the 19/32 tread depth. That's about 1/3 of the tread shaved off the center of the tread pattern.

Wondering how tires that close would act in mud and water. Not worried about gearing, I have the low ratio GU trans and the driven clutch is easy to adjust.

Any other ideas about decent riding tires that swim well, and the rims that'll let me run low pressure with no problems.. this tire coming off the rim crap is not for me.. All I know of right now is the K rims from RI. You guys can e-mail me ballpark quotes on wheels.. I assume the wheels for the RawhideIII 25x12-9NHS are 4.5" bolt centers and are not offset.. and about 12 inches wide ?

Also noticed the Centaur uses the AT 25x11.5-9 RawhideIII, and it's specs says 25.5" diameter. That would be 1.4" bigger diameter tire for the Bigfoot if it worked out..

Roger,
Titan makes a 23" tire in the same tread pattern as my 26". I have thought about getting a set for my Max II. They might fit ok on your Argo.

Troy, what is your tire, a titan tru power? Do you know of a web link, I havn't found your tire yet.

Found 'em at http://www.titanstore.com/store/TRU_PWR.html

One thing I notice after looking at tire specs this week is the advertised diameter is only ballpark. The rawhideIII 25's are 24.1 .. there are two 23" titans. An 8.5 and a 10.5 width, and their heights are 22.4 and 23.3"

Thanks for the tip, Troy. I like everything about them except the 12" rim. I'd lose some "suspension travel" over my current 8".

What are my choices on wheel sizes in the k rims?

Hello, please bear with a new user. I've been reading along for about two years, learning as much as I can. I'll be making my purchase very soon. I'd like to know what the largest tire size that can be run on an Argo 8x8? I'm looking to build a real go anywhere machine and the extra ground clearance and aggressive tread would be useful. I look forward to hearing from someone who has experience running larger tires on 8x8.

Thanks, Jeff

I was looking at Mud Shark AM096 25x12.00-9 the spec sheet states 23.3" O.D. or Kenda K277 Dirt Dog 25X12.00-9 spec state 23.1" O.D.and also Kenda K299 Bearclaw 22x12.0-9 spec state 22.1" O.D. Has anyone ever seen or used any of these tires on there AATV? I'm looking to put a new set on my Argo Conquest.

Are you excluding the new avenger model? It has 25 and a 1/2" tires stock.

I'm refering to the largest tire size for a conquest or response.

The response and conquest 8's come with 8x7 wheels. Hard to find a tire over 22" high for an 8" wheel. Have seen some aggressive tires put on the stock wheels, though. I think Jon Hoath has/had an older 8x8 with super swampers or something, in 22x8's.. saw a picture on the web.

Going to 9" wheels gives you some tires options, if you're serious about it and buying new, you might get the bigfoot wheels in the sale. They are not cheap. The 22" tires on 8" wheels is a lot less $, although the stock wheels are narrow. Richard Clark has 8x8.5" wheels, which is what goodyear sugests for the 22x8 rawhide III. I couldn't find anything in aftermarket 9" wheels.

I have the 25x12x9 kenda dirt dogs on bigfoot wheels, 9x10's. Only had them on a few days on my response. On the 10" wide wheels, they are 23.5"+- a tenth, at 2.5 lbs. Less than a 1/4" clearance between the 4 front tires. Good all around traction; swim capability.. umm, fair. They will swim in either direction.. my runamuks wouldn't back up. I turned them around like regular mud tread and will try out mud and swimming. It floats higher and is more stable side to side. Tire has 2 ply rating and lightweight side walls. It rides very well, I'm amazed, very runamuk like. They also are staying on the bigfoot wheels at low psi. 1-2 lbs in the back and not even a hint of pulling off the bead. Have to see how the sidewall holds up to abuse. Maybe get a picture for you soon.
