I met a guy and gal at humphrey who claim to have bought their conquest in canada and they live in the usa. they claimed it saved them a couple grand ($$$). fact of fiction I dont know but if that is fact i dont see why you couldnt go buy used their and come back muddy after a good canadian ride.

Brendan, It is absolutly legal to bring a new or used argo into the US from Canada. We enjoy a free trade agreement with our friends and neighbors to... well to my east (I'm in Alaska) your north. The only restrictions for importation of motor vehicles from Canada would be based on engine emissions and that is regulated by the EPA. However the engines argo uses all meet U.S. EPA standards. Not only are argos imported almost everyday but so are Ski-Doo snow machines, Arctic-Cat snowmachines, Ford and GM vehicles, and about a bazillion other things. For further peace of mind I suggest you contact a U.S. Customs office. They can be a great help. Lastly, the U.S. dollars is at an all time high compared to the Canadain loony. That means a big savings to you.

Brendan,
You will probably have to pay Duty when you import the Argo, but with the difference between your dollar and ours you should still save enough to make it worth while. As JSaylers suggested, best to check with a customs office. They should be able to tell you if there will be duty and or taxes and what the rate will be (ie duty of 6.1% of purchase price).
Get them to give you the "Harmonized Code" that applies too, it might look like 8703.21.90. If you have that handy when you show up at the border with the machine it will save time and hassle.
Let us know how it works out.
Kevin

Here's the latest from Argo; No dice from them, I'll have to have my friend call his friend in customs and see about a private party sale.

Hello Brendan,

Thanks again for your e-mail. I have done some searching and bugging for you and I came up with an answer. Unfortunately we will not be able to produce this form that you want.

It would be better for you to purchase a used one in the US.
All the best!
