Hi to all i would like to say i really enjoy this site and all your input for those of us looking for answers to do with argo's and such. i am planning on buying an argo for hunting and fishing in Bitish Columbia i currently own an atv but have always wanted an argo now i'm ready to take the plunge the only problem is there are no dealers anywhere close to me in southern BC so i'm not sure what kinda money we are talking about to buy one if anyone could throw out some ball park figures for me it would be great,i'm looking at that new 6x6 with the 20hp motor.but some idea's on prices for any of the new 6x6"s would be appreciated.

The new 6x6 with the 20 HP kawasaki is the 6x6 Conquest with goodyear rawhide 3 tires. Don't know the actual figure, but it will leave a burn mark in your pocket.

about $ 11,000.00 american for the new 6x conquest.$ 9,000.00 for the bigfoot, $6,000.00 for the vanguard. for a couple hundred more you can get the 8x response.i am trying to go from memory ( which ain't that good ) from a new price sheet i saw.prices may very according to your location. this was from a dealer in kansas.i would give you the actual numbers but i can't find the sheet. i don't remember what the 8x conquest was, maybe the argogeru could help you with that. good luck with your search. mike/wetsu

Curtis, here's my advice to you.

You should try to look for an Argo in a buy/sell newspaper or magazine. We wanted an Argo for several years and tried to save money at the same time. So we decided to wait for a really good deal, which we felt we got.

Our search brought us to a (rather wealthy) farmer who had lots of toys (dirt bikes, quads, etc... even a bi-plane!). Anyway, the guy had a 2000 Argo Conquest which he was trying to get rid of. To us, we wanted the 8x8 model because of the room and the 20HP liquid-cooled Kawasaki engine was also important, because of the heat it could provide in the winter and the engine cooling in the summer heat. Anyway, the guy bought it, thinking that he would use it with his family over his property, but it just ended up sitting around for the last two years in his hangar (remember, he owns a plane!). HEHE!

We drove about an hour to his place. He advertised the Argo 8x8 Conquest for $11,000 Canadian. Here's what happened... The Conquest was sitting around collecting dust (you could tell from the storage cover on it). It had about 42 hours on it since he bought it, with all the services done by the dealership.

The accessories we got with it included: Storage cover, winch, bilge pump, extra forward-facing back seat, outboard motor plate, full-body skid plate, front and back axle extensions/guards and the Argo snow tracks. We haggled with him to drop it down to $10,000 CDN to which he agreed with almost no hesitation. We also noticed he had one of those floating Argo trailers for it (the large one with dual axles) and asked him about it. He didn't want to sell it at first but then realized that he wouldn't really use it for anything. He threw it in for only $1,000 extra.

All the paperwork for the services done on it, the parts/maintenance manual and the owner's manual were all included and even a video of how to drive the thing. HEH!

When we brought it home a few days later and cleaned it from all the dust it collected and after our test drive with powerwash and Armor-All, it LOOKED BRAND NEW! I was shocked at the deal we got. NO scratches anywhere, slight marks on the skid plate (from 42 hours of use) and everything was in excellent working order. All this for $11,000 CDN.

This is to show everyone out there, that with a little patience you can also find some truly amazing deals for these machines.

P.S., last time we went to the dealership here in Ontario, a brand new Conquest 8x8 like this one cost $13,900 without ANY accessories whatsoever. I don't know about the 6x6 Conquest, but I believe it would approach the $10,000 mark (if not exceed it).

Like I said buddy, just WAIT and keep your EYES OPEN. They're not impossible to find if you just have the patience.

This is to everyone who is considering an Argo/Max/etc. purchase...

You may want to check on eBay Motors about once a week as well. They had some Argos there too. One thing with places like eBay though, sure they'll give you the right info (like the condition) about the vehicle, but they may over/under-exagerate something, so please be careful if you choose that route. Last thing I'd want is for a 6x6 friend to get burned on a deal.

Best solution like I said, is to CHECK YOUR LOCAL ADS for good deals. I'm talking about private, non-dealership sales. They're usually within a reasonable driving distance (unlike eBay). Also, do NOT go for the first ad you see. See what the dealer charges for the 6x6 and 8x8 model that suits your needs. Are the prices you see from private sales better for the same machine? Ask the dealer about accessories and how much they cost. Are the accessories included with the private sales worth the extra money?

I could go on and on (which I seem to be doing), but I am just trying to offer you guys some good advice. These machines don't cost a few hundred but up to ten grand and over, so they're worth the time to investigate before purchasing. Good luck to everyone.

thanks again chris just out of curiousity what do you use your machine for do you hunt with it?what kinda of terrain do you ride inand how do you like the performance?The only problem i have with looking for a used machine is there is not alot of argos for sale out in southern B.C but i will definately keep an eye out for them.i'm also alittle leary about used machines because you never really know how they were treated but there are a few great deals out there hence your sweet deal.Oh one more thing how are they on fuel and how big are the gas tanks?

We use our machine mainly for fun. Usually this is riding around the lodge several weekends per year (or whenever possible). I'm in school so I don't really get much riding done. My dad hunts and both parents love fishing (including myself whenever possible). Lakes, marshes and the Canadian Shield is what we ride on mostly. What else is here in Ontario? HEHE! With an emphasis on lakes and wooded areas (including snomobile trails that go through our lodge's property). So I guess we ride on pretty much everything the Argo was built for.

The performance? I love it. I can't complain. We've owned a 3-wheeler Yamaha before but sold it because it was too fast and dangerous (especially when I was younger). Like I said before, the 20HP Kawasaki engine is awesome and I would highly recommend it since you're looking at the 6x6 Conquest right? You can install a windshield and roof later and get the heater kit to keep yourself nice and toasty in the winter time. One more thing that I should comment on is changing the oil. As you may have read, yes it is quite tricky. It took us about an hour to figure it out at first until we got creative with a zip-lock bag. HAHA! Oh yes, and one MORE thing. The manuals say that the engine must be broken in for the first 50 hours or so. We're still breaking ours in and it's only starting to run REALLY smoothly now. You just need to let everything settle and wear in before you get maximum performance.

About used machines... Yeah, I know what you mean. It's difficult to tell how it was used sometimes. These machines are VERY durable, but don't let that fool you. If you can get a relatively new machine (1998 or newer perhaps) that looks decent and runs really well when fired up then you might be looking at a good machine. But if you're looking for a Conquest6x6 then I don't think you'll find ones that old (since they just came out recently from what I've been reading). Anyway, just check the engine, chains, etc. Ask about service records, etc. You know... just use some common sense, do your homework and decide wisely. One more thing... ASK FOR TEST RIDES! A seller who is selling a good machine will not hesitate to let you try it. A seller selling a lemon will make up excuses. There are certain times when this isn't true (like when in a city where you can't really ride, you know what I mean?).

About fuel... I find it VERY efficient on fuel. The gas tank is located under the driver's seat and takes up the entire width of the Argo. It takes regular unleaded fuel. Manufacturer's specifications say you can fill up to 8 US gallons which is roughly 32 liters. This is enough to last you about 4 hours at full-throttle, non-stop. However, I don't know of anyone who can ride at full throttle for that long anyway, but it's just for comparison sakes. Most of the time the fuel lasts MUCH longer since you'll be riding slower. Alternatively you can also carry extra containers with you if you think you may run out.

The Argo will last you 8 hours on full throttle on a full tank of gas, not 4 hours as my previous message has mentioned. My apologies for this mistake.
